A Race against Time

Chapter 35: A Race Against Time

The council chamber was filled with some energy that was very restless. Warriors, strategists, and Kain's most trusted advisors crowded the room, their voices were filled with urgent discussion.

Lucia was standing near the side of the gathering, her arms were crossed as she listened to them.

Dante was already making his move.

Kain was sitting at the head of the table, his expression was so unreadable, but Lucia could see the much tension in the way his fingers were curled on the wood.

"Scouts say Dante's forces are marching—not just gathering, and not just posturing. He is actually coming NOW." Kael who was resting on the far wall, exhaled very sharply.

A murmur of concern went through all the warriors.

"How long do we have?" Kain's jaw was tightened.

"Days, maybe even lesser than that self." Kael said harshly.

Lucia felt her pulse beating very fast. Days.
