A forgotten enemy

Chapter 51: A Forgotten Enemy

Lucia swallowed very hard, her own instincts were already screaming at her. The markings on the altar had stopped glowing now, but the sensation pressing on her chest still remained.

A whispering sound, like something waiting just beyond the veil of reality.

Then she heard it. A low growl.

"Did you hear that?" Lucia's head snapped up.

A howl was sounding through the silence. Not a normal howl.

Not the sound of a rogue wolf calling to its pack. This was wrong.

It was really distorted, layered, as if multiple voices were speaking through the same mouth. The walls seemed to vibrate with the sound, sending some chills racing down Lucia's spine.

"We are not alone." Kain immediately stepped in front of her, his position was very rigid.

Before anyone could react, the shadows near the entrance moved. And then...

They showed up.
