Chapter 124

"Well, Principal Shermo is usually reasonable," Eren joked.

He then turned to Gwen and asked, "Are you heading to lunch?"

"No, my mom needs her dressing changed at noon, so I'm heading to the hospital first."

Midtown High's lunch break was long enough, and the hospital treating Helen wasn't far. With careful time management, Gwen could easily make a round trip.

"To the hospital? Let me give you a ride. I drove today."

Gwen blinked at Eren, then smiled brightly. "Thanks, Eren."

A few minutes later, Gwen stood in front of Eren's sleek Aston Martin DB7 Vantage, staring at it in disbelief.

"This is your car?"

In the US, used cars were cheap. Most high schoolers, upon earning their driver's licenses, would save up from part-time jobs to buy a used car.

Gwen had assumed Eren's car was one of those.

She hadn't expected this—a stunning luxury sports car that stood out like a gem amidst the mundane vehicles in the parking lot.

Isn't Eren an orphan? How could he afford such a car?

Just by looking at the beautiful curves of the car, Gwen could tell it was worth more than several years of her dad's salary.

"Yeah, the process was a bit complicated, but this car is mine now."

Eren opened the passenger door for Gwen and smiled. "Hop in. I'll explain on the way to the hospital."

"Alright, but you'd better tell me the full story."

As Gwen climbed into the car, Eren slid into the driver's seat, and they drove off.

Outside Midtown High, Doug stared in shock as Eren's sports car sped away with Gwen in the passenger seat.

He wasn't the only one.

Other students at the school gates—boys and girls alike—were frozen, their eyes glued to the car as it disappeared from view.

The boys envied Eren for his car and the goddess sitting beside him, while the girls were jealous of Gwen for getting to ride in such a luxurious car.

None of them had ever ridden in a car that beautiful!

A little over ten minutes later, in the hospital's underground parking lot, Gwen was still trying to process what she'd heard.

"So, Tony Stark just gave you this car?"

"Of course. I did save his life, after all. For a billionaire like Stark, giving away a car gathering dust in his garage isn't a big deal. Alright, let's hurry up—Helen's waiting."

"Fair enough. That does sound like something a billionaire would do."

Accepting Eren's explanation, Gwen opened the car door and stepped out of the Aston Martin.

On the other side, Eren exited the driver's seat as well, grabbing a bouquet of flowers from the car.

The bouquet, purchased at the hospital entrance, was a simple but thoughtful gesture—Eren couldn't visit empty-handed.

"Let's go."

Gwen nodded and led the way.

A few minutes later, they entered a private hospital room, where Helen was lying on the bed, quietly reading a book.

"Good afternoon, Mrs. Helen," Eren greeted.

"Eren! What a surprise," Helen said, her face lighting up when she saw him. "I was planning to visit you once I recovered to thank you for saving my life, but you beat me to it."

Eren smiled. "Saving your life? Wasn't it George who rushed in and got you out of that freezer? I only showed him the way."

Helen chuckled. "I know George carried me out, but without you, he wouldn't have found me."

"Not necessarily. I believe George would have found you on his own, given his abilities."

Eren handed her the bouquet.

"I was in a bit of a rush, so I grabbed these carnations at the hospital entrance. I hope you don't mind."

"Of course not!"

Helen took the bouquet and inhaled deeply, a smile spreading across her face.

"Thank you, Eren," she said, her mood visibly uplifted by the fragrant flowers.

Gwen smiled and said, "Mom, let me put the flowers in a vase for you."

"Thank you, Gwen."

After handing the bouquet to her daughter, Helen gestured for Eren to sit.

"So, Eren, what brings you and Gwen here together?"

"Well, I came to share some good news."

"Oh? What kind of good news?" Helen teased. "Don't tell me you two are dating. That would certainly be good news!"

Helen's playful remark made Gwen's face turn beet red.

"Mom!" Gwen protested, her tone both shy and exasperated.

Helen chuckled at her daughter's reaction, clearly enjoying the moment.

Eren smiled and explained, "Mrs. Helen, you're mistaken."

"The good news is that I managed to obtain a special scar-removal serum from a lab at Oscorp. Once your wounds heal, using this serum will perfectly remove any scars."

"A perfect scar-removal serum?"

Helen didn't look thrilled—instead, a hint of worry appeared on her face. "There's no such thing as a perfect scar-removal serum. Eren, are you sure you weren't scammed?"

Eren smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry, Mrs. Helen. I wouldn't fall for a scam. Besides, Gwen's interning at Oscorp. If the serum didn't exist, she'd know, wouldn't she?"

"Really?" Helen turned to her daughter, her gaze questioning.

Caught off guard, Gwen hesitated briefly before nodding. "Dr. Connors has mentioned this serum before, but it's produced in very limited quantities. Even he has trouble acquiring it. I planned to tell you about it once I got my hands on some."
