"Sorry for being a disappointment to you princess." He said without thinking also
making his way to the gate.
"You have no intention of talking to me, do you" Erica said as she followed just behind him.
"What gave it away?" He replied as he touched the gate but nothing happened?
Walking up and passed him, Erica touched the gate and immediately started to be teleported.
"Word of advice, you actually have to kill 20 monsters to advance" was her final words as he was left there dumbfounded.
He actually had to kill.
His sword was so damn heavy though that holding it would rearrange his wrists structure. Zion was damn sure his bones would simply fly out of his body using that in combat.
It also meant that Erica Vivaldi Damiscu was even more skilled than he'd originally thought.
'Taking 20 monsters down within 6hrs of starting' His version of a sane person would have laughed at his joke not realising it was a statement of facts.
"Finally the damn gate" came another voice he heard briefly at the start. It was the boy who'd gotten a mouthful of shit from Erica.
It seemed he'd paired up with another girl who had an orb hovering above them.
It was an option of weaponry but Zion had no idea what it was. Now it made some sense, it was a directory, directory's were used as amplifiers.
If someone had a talent in high concentrated magic, Directory's were used to harness it and as the name stated- direct the amplified magic output.
It follows its user with high tech anti-feild software and engravements that propels it to follow and hover around.
The boy however had twin guns, they also relied on the use of magic. Zion thought he would be able to use them until that was pointed out.
Guns with high concentrated magic bullets that would be converted through the hands of the user.
Basically you needed to train your magic so precisely in order to use them. Output and input were both your enemy and friend. The higher the output, the stronger the force of the bullet. The lower the input, the smaller but faster the bullet.
If one could simultaneously use both at the same time, interchanging through. The mix would be high concentrated power behind small fast bullets or large fast bullets with high concentrated power. Even a mix of the two with each shot, it's enough to keep someone on their toes if done correctly.
'Erica used her bare fists...'
"What're you looking?" The boy grumbled as both of them tapped the gate and immediately teleported to the next floor.
Damn, he was now behind three maybe more people he wasn't aware of.
Turning around, he dragged his sword before lifting it a bit. He had no idea in using magic to enhance his strength or even using it to begin with.
No formal training to kill anything and only basics of some forms of fundamentals and functions of items. Courtesy of his own slight research in Marcus's library.
-------
"He's not doing as well as I'd hoped." Spoke the gentleman that Zion was briefly introduced too.
He had been observing all the young ones via the cameras hidden throughout each floor.
'Although it seems Erica Vivaldi Damiscu has taken some form of liking to him' The man thought as he swiped through a tablet with names, ages, talents and family connections. 'The son of Marcus is obviously a lie. At least one rumour of a mistress would of made nobility ears.'
Looking at Zion's page he tapped his finger and narrowed his gaze on the monitor that showed him being chased by a monster.
'However he may prove useful to infiltrate the Volitum empire that bastard has created in the Capital'
--------
"I'm going to fucken die!" Zion screamed as a two legged, big beaked, covered in armoured scales ran hot on his heels.
He'd never ran so fast in his life!
He'd dropped his sword so far back as tears flew out and past his face. He was done for if it caught up, he was stupid to think he could try and sneak up and take a swing at it.
He couldn't even lift the blade above his head! His body was too small, Zion would argue he's too young! No one was winning!
"Oi! Duck!" He picked up a faint voice yelling as he did just that. Immediately a violent wizzing sound past him and what sounded like thunder and lighting in one sounded out harshly as it hit the monster full force.
Then another, followed by a massive wave!? Immediately Zion hugged the ground as the water passed over him. Another sound of pure chaos as the monster was fried from the inside out. It dropped so loudly the trees around them shook.
Getting up, Zion turned around to see its innards had become it outards and its head was barely attached.
Whatever they were feeding the children, it paid off.
"Yo! You good?" Spoke another boy as a girl followed from behind him. It seemed that a lot of them had teamed up to compete.
"I'm alive" Zion said sarcastically, even though he didn't intend it that way.
"Bawhahah, you're a funny guy" the boy said holding his hand out to which Zion took. "I'm Chris Rever and behind me is May Xliav, we didn't expect to see someone outrun a Malax"
"A Malax?" Turning around the monster was still as dead as a door nail.
"Yeah see, that monster is known for it ferocious speeds of up to 160km/ph, there's a reason that Zino's are so fast" laughed May.
"Did you enhance your speed with magic? Pretty smart but I guess that was your only plan huh?" Chris finished as Zion just remained silent nodding.
He hadn't used magic though.
He'd simply ran as fast as he could.
But it came to him almost like a creepy sound sending chills up ones spine- he wasn't even exhausted...it had come to him naturally as breathing...
"Well that was yours to begin with, you should go collect the points" May said pointing at the Malax. Zion not really trusting them walked up to the monster trying not to hurl.
He hadn't eaten after all and seeing this made his stomach churn.
'What do I do?' He thought as the two others becoming slightly impatient walked up to him.
"Is everything good?" Chris asked as Zion felt like he wasn't just going to learn but be embarrassed by everyone unintentionally.
"I don't know how to claim it..." Zion mumbled off as the two looked perplexed.
May was the first to giggle a bit as Chris held it in professionally.
"It's you're wrist band that is apart of your suit. It'll scan it, you just have to double tap it"
Listening to Chris's instructions he double tapped his wristband that each of them were given to monitor their vitals.
Immediately a scan followed and a message of 1/20 appeared.
'So that's how Erica knew...' He thought as he sighed.
"Thanks" he slightly smiled at the two who'd basically saved him.
"Don't worry about it, I know in a sense we shouldn't team up. But the Maze is too much for mere 6 to 8 year olds on their own. Even if we have had all the training from 3." Jesus, now common sense was to be put in with high class mannerism.
They understood it all, compared to them he really was just a country bumpkin.
Maybe grouping up wouldn't be such a bad idea? It didn't necessarily mean he trusted them. But at least he wouldn't die miserably and actually get somewhere.
"Would you guys mind if I tag along?" Zion enquired as the two smiled.
"With someone as fast as you, killing Malax will be a breeze" May joked as Zion slightly smiled back.
'Fast huh...'
