Chapter 27: Shadows Of The Past

Aurora woke to the sound of rain softly pattering against the cabin's windows. The storm had rolled in overnight, and the dim gray light filtering through the curtains matched her mood. She sat up slowly, rubbing her temples as memories of the previous night flooded her mind.

Logan's kiss. His words. The intensity in his eyes spoke volumes about his determination.

Her chest tightened at the thought. Logan didn't hold back, not with his actions or his emotions. He pushed past every wall she'd built, barreling into her life like a storm, and now she was left trying to salvage the wreckage.

Aurora shook her head, trying to push the thoughts away. She couldn't afford distractions—not now, not ever. Distractions were dangerous. They made her vulnerable, and vulnerability could get her killed.

But no matter how much she tried to shove him out of her mind, Logan lingered, his presence like a shadow that refused to leave.
