Rocco's expression contorted, his eyes suddenly widening as if recalling something crucial. He snapped his head upward, rage burning in his bloodshot stare as it locked onto Avery.
Avery let out a frightened gasp, trying to escape, but Rocco's grasp was unyielding, yanking her back by her locks.
"You wretched woman! Stop lying to me! Even if you perish, Valerie wouldn't!"
"It's all your fault! You delivered those items to Valerie. That's the reason she abandoned me!"
Rocco's breathing accelerated, his anger overtaking him. "You were aware, weren't you? You recognized her but kept quiet. Valerie was too gentle to harm anyone. Why didn't you inform me? Why didn't you caution me?"
Avery's shriek reverberated through the room as pain seared her scalp, and terror consumed her, causing her to lose composure.
"I did it for the child, Rocco! She couldn't provide you with an heir, but I can! You promised me a new residence. You promised us a future!"
