A resounding crash echoed through the house, startling me.
Upon reentering, I witnessed Denver discarding an empty sedative container and hauling Micah towards the cellar.
Micah regained consciousness to find herself confronted by Denver's icy, enraged stare. Despite her quivering body, she attempted to maintain her composure.
"It's getting late, Denver. Why don't we head back to bed?" she suggested.
Denver approached, brandishing a blade. Micah's face was streaked with tears as she begged, "You can't end my life! I'm the one who saved you!"
He violently pushed her onto the table. His voice was rough with fury. "Did you think I was stupid?"
He played a video on his computer, causing Micah's eyes to widen in disbelief.
I, too, was astonished by the footage.
The recording showed the moment Denver lost consciousness. I emerged to rescue him but was struck down and taken by an unknown attacker. Only after the assailant departed did Micah cautiously emerge from her hiding spot.
