Cecilia was somewhat surprised; after all, Regina had never been fond of her, and they rarely had any contact. Moreover, she had stayed at the Faber family's house just yesterday.
"Mom, what's the matter?"
Regina's voice sounded anxious, "Cecilia, your dad just called Alston, and they had a quarrel. Your dad is really upset..."
"Over these years, you know your dad's health condition. Just for his sake, could you please find a way to have Alston pick you and Gladys up tonight? Let's say it's to pacify him, alright?"
Cecilia's eyelids fluttered. The air in the pantry was damp, the light dim, accentuating the beauty of her porcelain face.
It was the first time Regina had called her, humbly asking for help. Although Regina had found a reason, Cecilia knew that her mother's worry for Corin's health was just an excuse; she was actually worried about Alston.
She was afraid that Alston wouldn't behave tonight and would end up getting hurt again.
