Chapter 300

[Once again, Cecilia is my woman. Even if she dies in this B&H fire, it's none of your business, Brian!]

Cecilia's fingers trembled. She could recognize Alston's voice anywhere, the man she had loved for more than a decade.

But she never expected Alston to say something so harsh, nearly crushing all the faith she had held onto.

Brian spoke, "Cecilia, I know recording this is a low move, but as your friend, I need to tell you. Alston is not the right man for you."

It felt as though a blunt knife was cutting into Cecilia’s heart, spreading a torturous pain. She couldn't even muster an expression.

This was one of the rare moments in her life where she felt utterly helpless and embarrassed.

Forcing a smile, Cecilia reached out to Brian, her voice strained but determined to sound unaffected. "Brian, can I borrow your phone?"

Brian handed over his slim phone. Cecilia licked her lips and dialed Alston’s number. It rang and soon connected.
