The nurse, disturbed from her sleep, looked up with some annoyance. But upon seeing Alston, her expression immediately softened, and she smiled warmly. "Downstairs, room 1203, bed 37!"
"Alston, shall I accompany you?"
Her enthusiastic offer was met with a dismissive flutter of Alston's eyelashes. He shook his head and replied in a low voice, "No need, I know the way."
As he reached the staircase, he turned back to the nurse, who was still beaming at him. "Keep my visit to the hospital to yourself," he murmured.
The nurse was momentarily taken aback but nodded.
The ward where Cecilia was staying was just one floor below the SVIP level. Too impatient to wait for the elevator, Alston took the stairs. The ward was easy to find. In room 1203, there was only one bed, which was a bit crowded with both Cecilia and Gladys sharing it. Yet, Cecilia was holding Gladys and sleeping soundly.
