"What's 'gibberish cartoons'?"
Cecilia smiled. Gladys had once asked her why the characters on TV seemed to be speaking gibberish when she couldn't understand what they were saying.
"Gladys, Mommy and you are now in the country where the cartoon you were watching is set! You're not Cinderella, it's just that they speak differently than we do."
"Really?"
"Of course, Gladys. Next time you go out to play and can't understand what people are saying, just ask Selena to tell the other kids about where we come from."
Cecilia gently ruffled Gladys' hair and whispered, "We will be staying here for quite a while, so please don't reject this place, okay?"
Gladys nodded.
"Mom, will I still be able to go to school?" Gladys asked, her eyes glistening slightly with tears. "What if... what if I don't understand what the teacher says? Can I bring Selena to school with me?"
