The sound of her phone ringing was enough to stir Amara from her sleep. Slowly, she reached out for her phone and answered the call without even bothering to check who was on the other line.
“Hello?” Her voice was laced with sleep and she found herself wanting to go back to bed, rather than engage in a conversation.
“Amara,” It was Elijah. “Thank goodness you’re okay. I tried calling the entire night but-“
