Lazarus radiated an aura of distilled enmity, seeping into the radioactive silence between us. He marched with me in toe, not yielding in his punishing grip on my arm. “Lazarus, I need to-“

“Don’t speak.” He commanded steely.

Pressing my lips tightly together, suppressing the irritation bubbling in my chest. He burst into his room and threw me onto the bed, bathing us in a hue of red lights as I briefly catch a glimpse from the window of the starry night sky.

I blinked and suddenly – Lazarus loomed over me; eyes locked upon mine with an overwhelming presence that left me breathless.

“What are you doing?” I gritted out in annoyance, “Get off me Lazarus, I need to return to the palace.”

“You aren’t going anywhere.” He stated definitively, darkness swirling in his eyes. “Ma Cherie, you forget who you belong to.”

My fingers dug into the silk sheets, arching a challenging brow at him as my expression oozed with defiance. “It’s not like you ever let me forget.”
