Their exasperated sighs echoed within the hall, bathed in the shadows of flourishing annoyance. “It is unbecoming to call such a meeting, especially without the presence of Donovan.” She snapped, acid in her tone.
The youngest man let out a menacing chuckle. “Don’t assume you have power to command our presence.” He spat venomously. “You are nothing but our pawn.”
A slew of insults was flung my way, continuously rattling off how I was abusing the little power they had given me.
“We established these Kingdoms, we created the hierarchy, and you dare defy us.” The oldest man declared, a sharp and bitter edge in his voice.
I couldn’t control myself, swiping my thumb along my bottom lip as a sardonic laugh escaped me. “Yes, you guys created the Kingdoms and lived to see it thrive.”
“What are you-”
“Such a blessing to have immortality.” I jeered with a smirk.
