Chapter 14: School Diary

Jasper Lee stayed home for seven or eight days.

It wasn't until Cherry Adams had completed the adoption process.

On that day, Jasper Lee, who had been walking around, received a phone call from Cherry Adams asking him to go to Jianghan Road temporarily.

"Go to Ye Medical Hall and get Pascal's medicine back. I just received a big order and won't be able to come back for a while."

"Okay," Jasper Lee hung up the phone, went to Jianghan Road to pick up the medicine, and carried home the school's admission brochure.

Pascal Lee opened the door and saw the medicine first. His face fell, and when he saw the enrollment brochure, his face fell even more.

"Brother..." he murmured, "I actually feel that... it's pretty good not to go to school.

Jasper Lee heard this and just stared at him with a silent, serious, and undeniable look.

"Okay, okay," Pascal Lee quickly raised his hands and feet in surrender, "I want to go to school! I love going to school!"

Jasper Lee then withdrew his gaze and tapped his fingertips on the information in front of him, "Take a look to see if there is anything you like.

Pascal Lee bit his nails and glanced back and forth.

Cherry Adams had already made up her mind by the time he got off work.

"A small school outside of Seoul?" Cherry Adams raised an eyebrow.

"It's okay, you're the one who chooses the school."

"So it's okay?" Pascal Lee thought that the school had good hardware and the food was also good...

Well, the latter was the main reason.

"Why are you asking me, ask your brother," Cherry Adams gave an inscrutable smile, "it's your brother who's paying the tuition, not me."

Pascal Lee looked back at Jasper Lee.

Jasper Lee looked at the tuition fee.

  15,000 yuan per semester.

Other miscellaneous fees are not included.

"Hahahaha," Cherry Adams couldn't hold back any longer, "You really picked the most expensive one!"

Pascal Lee also looked at the breakdown of fees at the bottom and was embarrassed, "I'd better pick another one..."

Jasper Lee was very determined, "This one."

"Brother, but one semester is..."

Pascal Lee didn't dare to say the amount.

"It's okay, I'll take care of the tuition."

Jasper Lee said it was fine for the second time.

Pascal Lee was still worried, so Jasper Lee told him not to worry about it and just concentrate on his studies.

This was their business as brothers. Cherry Adams watched the drama unfold and remained silent the entire time.

Once the school was settled, all that remained was to contact the admissions office. Transferring school records and schools all required fees to be paid, and the tuition fees were astronomical for the Lee Family brothers. Cherry Adams really didn't understand why Jasper Lee had to put on a brave face.

After Pascal Lee went to bed, Cherry Adams asked his brother, "What do you think about going to such an expensive school? Why don't you go to public school?"

"126,800," Jasper Lee replied, "That's the tuition for the private school Pascal used to go to.

Cherry Adams looked at him coldly, then smiled contemptuously after a moment, "I think you're really obsessed. You can't even feed yourself and you're thinking of supporting your brother as a young master. Is that why you want to spend twice as much as a public school? Do you think that's going to help him?"

"It's not about usefulness," Jasper Lee said calmly. If it means he can go to a good school, why not?"

"Pascal Lee is not cut out to study, if you ask me," Cherry Adams paused. "Have you ever thought about yourself? Are you just going to keep being a tutor? Are you not as good at studying as he is? You just need to earn enough money for a year or six months to save up for your own tuition."

Jasper Lee said nothing.

After a long time, he said quietly, "Pascal is different from me. I can live anywhere, but he still can't get over the gap between the old Lee family and our family. If I send him to a regular school, he won't be able to handle it either... I want to make his childhood a little happier.

But you're still a child.

Cherry Adams felt a spark of anger in her chest.

"...Never mind, that's your business." Cherry Adams simply turned around, "If you can pay the tuition, then pay it, but if you can't, don't expect me to pay it. I have to use the pension too, I didn't raise you for nothing, it's impossible to get no benefit at all.

Jasper Lee's short, dark eyelashes dropped.

"Well, I understand."

"Okay, go to sleep. Cherry Adams waved her hand impatiently, "I'll send you to the station tomorrow."

The next day, Cherry Adams sent Jasper Lee to Hankou Station.

They were almost there when Cherry Adams suddenly remembered, "Have you added me on WeChat yet? It'll be easier to keep in touch in the future."

"Okay," Jasper Lee took Cherry Adams' phone, which had no lock screen, and opened the WeChat interface.

Cherry Adams had two phones, one for work and one for personal use. Jasper Lee added her as a friend, and her WeChat name was "I'm not going to work tomorrow". Her profile picture was a panda emoji, showing her young attitude. Jasper Lee was using his real name.

When they arrived at the station entrance, the traffic was so bad that Cherry Adams had to let him go early. She reminded him, "Just follow the crowd and get in. As you get on and off the train, remember to take your phone and luggage with you. And don't lose your ID."

Cherry Adams was still worried about letting her 14-year-old son ride the train, so she told him, "When you get on the train, take a picture of yourself for me.

Jasper Lee said he understood and then asked if she had been angry the day before, explaining that he had earned more than just 4,000 yuan.

"That's enough! It's none of your business how much you make!" Cherry Adams waved impatiently.

"I don't want to manage you."

It went on and on.

Cherry Adams told him to hurry up and get in line.

Jasper Lee's figure disappeared into the crowd.

Every year, the winter holidays are the peak season for private tutoring. Jasper Lee is busy preparing lessons and rushing between his students' homes. As the New Year approaches, he finally finalizes his schedule for the period after the New Year, and then remembers to book his train ticket.

Unfortunately, all the tickets were sold out.

"Don't you know you have to book tickets in advance during the Spring Festival travel rush?" Cherry Adams scoffs on the other end of the phone. "Isn't that a New Year's tradition?"

It's hard to blame Jasper Lee. Despite his efforts to assimilate, he was still a young master traveling with a chauffeur until this summer.

Jasper Lee pursed his dry lips: "I can check the bus tickets, I should still be able to get some."

Cherry Adams: "No need, just text me your location.

Jasper Lee responded, "You're coming to pick me up?"

"I have some business to take care of here in Shiyan, and I'll pick you up on my way back."

Jasper Lee sent his location. Cherry Adams arrived at dusk.

Jasper Lee opened the trunk and began loading the luggage.

Cherry Adams leaned against the car and watched him work.

Cherry Adams: "Your brother is going to start school after the New Year."

"Did you take care of his school registration?"

"Of course. First I transferred his household registration, then I contacted the school and applied online. But it cost a little money."

"How much?" Jasper Lee unconsciously reached for his bag, "I can give it to you now.

"Thirty-eight thousand, you want to pay? Cherry Adams looked at him, "I told you to let your brother go to a public school, but you refused. Didn't you know that transferring to a private school is very cumbersome?"

So there was such a rule. Jasper Lee was at a loss for a moment, "I only have twenty thousand..."

This time, Cherry Adams was the one who was surprised.

"You robbed less? You robbed it? !"

Jasper Lee explained, "No, it's not only this month's, but next semester's as well. I was in a hurry to pay Pascal's tuition, so I collected half first and the rest after class." He paused, "One student did well in the final exam, and his parents gave me a red envelope as well."

Cherry Adams was jealous and asked how much was in the envelope. Jasper Lee said it wasn't much, just a little over two thousand. She couldn't help but sigh:

"There are still a lot of rich people in the world."

Jasper Lee: "Why are you in Shiyan?"

"My friend ran a driving school, so I went to visit him."

Cherry Adams pulled onto the highway. "So you have more than 20,000 yuan, which is more than enough to pay Pascal Lee's tuition for this semester. You also need to spend money on housing and books, and he needs to buy new stationery and a new school bag... By the way, I circumcised your brother.

Jasper Lee listened intently, but was suddenly shocked. The word "foreskin" was a bit harsh.

"Foreskin? Don't all little boys have to be circumcised at that age?" Cherry Adams said lightly and then asked, "What, you haven't had it done?"

"I had it done..." Jasper Lee covered his face in embarrassment, "I thought you were talking about... Nothing.

Cherry Adams was stunned, "What? I was talking about Pascal Lee! I took him to the hospital and had it done.

Seeing Jasper Lee's ears turn red, Cherry Adams couldn't contain her laughter, "What's there to be shy about?

"I've been meaning to tell you for a long time, you're a man, don't be so awkward when you're out and about, and don't be so formal at home either," Cherry Adams continued to educate her child, "It's not good to have too much pride, you know? You'll suffer in your interpersonal relationships in the future and everyone will laugh at you.

"I know."

When they got home, Jasper Lee couldn't help but laugh when he saw Pascal Lee who had turned into a small crab.

"Brother... I..." Only a man can understand another man's pain. I have to pee!"

"It's hard to hold it in, and you have to drink and pee," said Cherry Adams, who was standing and could not feel the pain. Do you know he was tossing and turning in bed in the middle of the night? I was so upset, I wanted to let him sleep on the floor.

"I can't help it... I have to pee!"

"Just hold it in," Cherry Adams said, crossing her arms. "You're a man! Act like a man, okay?"

Cherry Adams' coquetry doesn't work, so Pascal Lee has to go to his brother. Jasper Lee can't help, he can only keep him company.

So the whole New Year is spent with Pascal Lee complaining about his "pain down there" and Cherry Adams telling him to "be a man".

After the New Year, Cherry Adams continued to move bricks on the road, while Jasper Lee returned to Xiangyang to teach. And our Pascal Lee finally started his school life.

A new term brings a new atmosphere.

Cherry Adams took him to his new school.

"Study hard," she told him, "don't let your brother down, he works like a horse for you.

"I promise to get the job done!" said Pascal Lee, an elementary school student who had lost his foreskin but gained a new identity.

Pascal Lee went to school with a brand new school bag, just like all the other children. Cherry Adams watched with relief, surrounded by parents holding up their cell phones to take pictures. She followed suit, grabbed her phone and started shooting a video, but didn't know who to send it to, so she ended up sending it to Jasper Lee.

Cherry Adams: "Jasper Lee's school report.

Jasper Lee also replied, "Keep up the good work.

The school is a full boarding school and Jasper Lee is worried about whether Pascal Lee will be able to adjust to living there. Cherry Adams says he farts. She has visited the school dormitory, and it is so luxurious, like a fairy tale house made of blocks, much nicer than the elementary school she went to.

That's good, Jasper Lee is relieved and tells Cherry Adams again that the 38,000 yuan for the transfer will be returned to you as soon as possible.

Cherry Adams says that there is no hurry and that it can be returned slowly.

Time passed and it was May.

Jasper Lee suddenly received a phone call from his younger brother.

"Brother!" he cried into the phone, his head in his hands.

"Help me! I've made a big mistake!"

"I'm being beaten to death by my sister!"
