Sean's POV
Klien arrives swiftly, moving silently as always—my loyal shadow in times of need. "Please go get Dr. Opal. Tell her it's urgent and for the Queen," I instruct, my voice steady and controlled despite the chaos swirling in my mind.
Klien nods, the urgency of my request understood without further explanation. He turns and slips away into the depths of the water, a figure of calm in the midst of my rising anxiety. I watch him go, my heart racing as I return my attention to the girls.
Savanna, with her almost newly formed tail, lies still pink and gold scales starting to form. Her breaths steady but shallow. I can't help but wonder what this transformation means for her, for us. The weight of responsibility presses down on me. I need to be strong for her, for all of them. Molly and Brooke have tails forming too. When will they wake up. How can we help them.
Zander's eyes begin to glow, a telltale sign that he's receiving a premonition. I can feel the tension in the air as I ask, "What do you see?"
He turns to me, sweat brimming on his brow, urgency etched across his features. "We need to get them back in the water. It seems to be helping with the transformation."
"Alright," I reply, determination flooding through me. I gently pick up Savanna, cradling her as I pull her back into the water with me. Zander does the same with Brooke, his movements swift and purposeful.
Chris attempts to do the same with Molly, but in a moment of chaos, she accidentally slips from his grip. She's submerged for a few brief seconds, and I feel my heart stop. But then, a golden hue envelops her, shimmering like sunlight dancing under the waves. However, the moment her head breaks the surface, the glow fades, and I can't help but feel a sense of loss.
Zander speaks up first, his voice steady despite the urgency of our situation. "I think they need to be completely submerged under the water to complete their transformation."
I nod, knowing he's probably right. But the fear lingers in the back of my mind. I just got Savanna back from drowning; what if this… I can't even finish the thought.
"Zander, let's take them all under?" I ask, trying to keep my voice neutral, masking the turmoil within. "Let's do this together."
We all submerge the three girls underwater. A soft, radiant glow begins to envelop them. The transformation into mermaids unfolds before my eyes, a sight both mesmerizing and surreal.
The water shimmers around them, reflecting hues of gold and iridescent pink's and purple, as their tails start to fully emerge. I watch in silence, feeling a mix of awe and apprehension. This is a moment I've never witnessed before—a blend of beauty and the unknown, as they complete their transformation.
Zander and Chris remain close, their expressions reflecting the same mixture of wonder and concern that fills the air. As the glow intensifies, it's clear that this is a pivotal moment, one that will change everything for them and for us. I hold my breath, waiting for the transformation to settle, hoping that this new reality is one we can navigate together.
The girls' glow begins to dim, and we carefully pull them up from the water. As they break the surface, it's clear that they remain unconscious, their bodies limp in our arms.
I exchange glances with Zander and Chris, the weight of uncertainty hanging in the air. We did everything we could to help them, but now we need to ensure they're safe.
"Let's not wait for Dr. Opal, let's take them to the my castle where she can examine them there," I say, my voice steady. "We need to monitor them and make sure they're okay. I see the 3 slits in their necks this should allow them to breathe underwater." I point out
Zander nods, determination in his eyes. Chris looks at me, concern etched on his face, but he follows our lead. Together, we carry the girls toward my castle, hoping that the transformation will prove to be a positive change once they awaken.
The underwater castle looms majestically before us, its spires reaching toward the surface like fingers grasping for air. The walls shimmer with the colors of the sea, adorned with coral and bioluminescent flora that light the way through the dim waters. Schools of fish dart around us, curious about the commotion as we approach the entrance.
As we enter the grand hall, the room is filled with the soft hum of the ocean. My heart races as we carry the three unconscious, new mermaids, their tails sparkling faintly in the ambient light.
Just as we reach the center of the hall, we spot Klien and Dr. Opal conversing near a large, ornate table. Klien's eyes widen in surprise at the sight of us, while Opal's expression shifts to one of concern.
"What happened I thought we were meeting you?" Klien asks, moving closer, his voice steady but urgent.
"Well they completed their transformation," I reply, gesturing toward the girls. "They've transformed completely but they're still unconscious. We didn't want to wait for you to arrive."
Opal steps forward, her keen eyes assessing the situation. "We'll need to examine them right away," she states, her tone resolute. "Can you bring them to the examination chamber?"
Zander nods, and Chris shifts Molly in his arms. "We'll follow you," he says, determination evident in his voice.
Klien and Opal lead us through the castle's winding corridors, the walls adorned with intricate carvings depicting the history of merfolk. The atmosphere is charged with urgency as we navigate the familiar paths, the soft glow of various marine life illuminating our way.
Finally, we arrive at the examination chamber, a spacious room filled with tables and tools designed for the unique needs of merfolk. Opal takes charge, directing us to lay the girls on the tables, her demeanor calm and focused.
As we gently place them down, I can't shake the feeling that their transformation is just the beginning of a much larger journey. The castle, with all its secrets and history, feels like the perfect place for them to awaken and discover their new identities.
