Carl didn't want to leave the house just like that. It was littered with bones that he didn't know where to dispose of. He could have done the normal thing to throw it in the trash or bury it, but the scent and taste of the dry bones were too good to dispose of.
It felt like such a waste, but he also didn't want to carry it with him even if he placed it in his inventory. His human side and Wendigo's side clashed, so the only way to solve it was to burn it all down with the house.
It was unnecessary, but it was a necessary sacrifice for the greater good.
Dosing the house in gasoline, cooking oil, and anything flammable he stood outside with a solemn look on his face as he remembered the last happy time he had with those bones.
He dropped the lit lighter onto the gasoline as he watched the house burn. Lowering his head to show his last respect to the bones and to the house for giving him shelter
"Guess I'm going to the city," he said with a soft smile as he turned his back and started running at astonishing speed. "With the speed I'm going, I might reach the nearest town by midnight".
From the books he read in Cromwell's house, his building was quite isolated even from the town, which would be 24 km long and extremely far away from the city." With all that isolation, you will think you wouldn't be disturbed by visitors", he said in an annoyed toned.
He kept on running as he passed some trees like a blur moving through the night. "I'm almost close," he murmured as he picked up on the stench of humans with a devilish smile on his face for no apparent reason.
He wasn't sure how to act when he will see fellow humans, but he was sure he would find out along the way. Making his way to the town, it wasn't big or bustling with people, almost as if everyone was minding their own business, but that didn't bother him. He only wanted to go to the city to avoid isolation, not to socialize; most people would ask if it wasn't the same thing, but it was definitely not.
With the money he took from Cromwell's house, he bought himself a bus ticket that would arrive in nine hours. He was going to have his trip like a civilized man, not some monster that would go on all fours to the city. He had to preserve some of his dignity as a human being to forget the shameful memory of drinking blood like some sort of vampire.
"Do vampires even exist in this world?" He thought. The memory of drinking blood made him question if there were monsters like him, then maybe there would be vampires and werewolves. The idea of that interested him, but he didn't want to associate himself as or with a monster.
The wait was unbearable, knowing he could go faster than the bus made him tempted to run to the city, but he reaffirmed himself to go to the city like a civilized man.
He sat on the bench, waiting for the next bus by himself while fiddling with his fingers to pass the time. " Ugh, maybe I should go and come back when the time is almost up. This thing is impossible to breath in", he said whiles he tried to loosen the mask without ripping it. The only way to help his boredom was to go to the town's outskirt and hunt wild animals he saw in the way. "That would be more fun than waiting here" a wide grin bite on his face as he thought that.
With that thought, he put his bag inside the inventory before dashing to the outskirts of the town. The silence in the town was eerily, as was the lack of people outside. But he shrugged it off before focusing on his destination.
On the outskirts of the town, there was nothing to see, no bears, wolves, jackals, or any wildlife to face. Just him and singing crickets with some owl chirping from time to time.
Just as he was going to give up the growl of a bear caught his interest as he stared at the position of the noise. A large bear brown bear that was drinking near a lake.
His instincts were telling him to approach the bear stealthily but he also knew he could take the bear head-on without suffering a scratch. With a battle cry that alerted the bear of his position, he charged recklessly without the fear of death in his eyes.
The bear swung its paw at him, which he caught with ease; the bear swung its other paw, but only for the same situation to repeat again. Carl looked at the bear mockingly as he held its paws; the strength to look down on something he used to see as a predator made him feel all-powerful.
He didn't have to hide if he wanted to he could even be the leader of any country or even the whole world, with a little persuasion that is.
He bit down on the bear's throat bathing him and his clothes in blood.
He slowly feasted on the meat while he bent down and drank the blood like a dog drinking water from the dog bowl. The first reason why he took his time was to enjoy the flavor, and the second reason, he was hoping a lot of time would pass as he enjoyed himself.
Sadly, he only took two hours, including him searching around for any other bear, although he didn't want to go far from the to,wn, fearing he would miss the bus.
After washing himself in the river and changing his blood-soaked clothes, he went back to the town, noticing more strange events. None of the lights illuminated, and the silhouette of the town folk in their house watching him closely through their blinds without blinking. This made him feel a little uncomfortable without realizing it as he gave the people suspicious and curious looks as he passed by the bus stop.

At the local police department where police officers all stood up, their pupils rolled up as only the white could be seen in their eyes, red tentacles connected to the back of their necks and at the end of the tentacles a giant floating meatball with eyes all around it, that seems to be the cause of strange news on the town.
" Hmm, a young fawn seems to have stepped its way into my territory." The eyes looked at Carl from the view of the townspeople as it was figuring out whether to leave the Wendigo or kill it. A thought came to his mind as the police officers and the townspeople started laughing as they shared emotions with the eye like a hive mind.
