FRUSTRATION AND PROXIMITY

Present Time

The Sciers had sent the leader of their messengers to deliver the New Prophecy to Lord Kamaz.

They knew he wasn't going to come to them to know what it was even though he knew it was out, and out of obligation; they had to make the exact words known to him - favorable or not!

‘From a dark arch, the Reborn will meet the one whose fate she cannot part from - for they are intertwined. Born of Fire, Carved from Stone, for their fates will be sold!’ The Prophecy read.

No matter how much he tried to interpret it, he still couldn't understand it. But one thing he knew was that this time around, the Prophecy that had spoken of her Reborn in his favour, was also speaking of incoming doom.

Because he couldn't fully interpret it, he could only come up with one solution.

‘Stick by her side wherever she is going!

He planned not to let her go anywhere without his presence.

He decided to go through some old texts and books in the library to check if he could find more information regarding the Prophecy.

He exited his room and headed for the library but when he got to the door, he could feel the presence of someone inside.

It was Zeda.

She had not been able to sleep for long.

Since she arrived at the mansion, it was like her body wasn't hers, and most of what she had been doing had been to rest and sleep and rest again.

When Lord Kamaz and Falkur were out, she had taken a solo tour of the mansion and found her way to the equipped library.

She was surprised when she saw the latest collection of her favorite genres, and authors arranged according to their color in a particular section of the library. With the use of a moving ladder, she had been able to scan through some of them as they brought back fond memories.

She couldn't believe he had also read that kind of book.

‘Or is it for collection purposes?’

But she had not been prepared for the historical books that were stacked there. She could clearly remember needing more materials for a particular project in school but because the materials she could find were limited.

She had woken up an hour after Lord Kamaz had brought her to her room and she wondered how she ended up there. She tried to sleep back, but her body was finally revived and agile, and she decided to go back to the library to read.

When she heard the door to the library opening, she couldn't tell why but she decided to hide in between the shelves that weren't directly facing the door.

She was still very cautious about everything in this mansion that was housing very few people and she felt like if she made any mistake, she could be thrown right out. Even though she had done nothing in the first place to be here.

As Kamaz looked through the shelves for her, she ran to the next and she tried to make her steps as light as possible. Kamaz finally noticed that she was trying to hide from him.

He smiled.

Zelda was facing forward, waiting for whoever it was that had a sudden interest in the library by this time of the night to show up. When she turned, she walked right into a bricked wall.

‘Oh no! Not a wall!’

As she rubbed her forehead, her eyes journeyed at the human wall before her till they met a pair of baby blue eyes. She almost yelped in fright at the sudden realization of who it was, but before she could scream, Kamaz placed a cold hand on her mouth.

Her eyes were wide with surprise and her exclamation had died in his hand. The soft breaths from her mouth tickled his palm as he looked at the small woman before him.

He was without his gloves and a zing of electricity had spiralled and raced through him at jolting speed.

“You could have woken someone! Sorry to startle you" Kamaz said to Zelda in a gentle voice.

If Falkur was there, his ears would have almost bled because he knows that Lord Kamaz doesn't get to apologize to anyone. Apart from the fact that he is an uprightly arrogant man, the man could almost do no wrong.

He gradually removed his hand that was covering her mouth. “Couldn't sleep?" He asked when she just kept staring at him.

Her eyes, which were once wide open, were normal now and were staring at him or his hair.

“You have…there is, uhm, something in your hair,” She said.

He lowered his head till he could almost get to her level.

She understood what he wanted and her hands reached out to his hair. Her fingers glided in his hair, untangling the small leaf there in . It must have stuck during his bath in the lake - and her fingers brushed his scalp slightly.

His eyes dimmed, almost shutting at the feel of her fingers on his scalp.

Just that small touch was enough to un -alive him.

He leaned into her unconsciously, backing her against the shelf and caging her with his frame.

His hand moved to touch her, but at the last second, he refrained and held onto a wooden level that was holding books, his fingers digging into it in absolute frustration.

Falkur had said not to do anything that could make her see him as weird or perverted!

“This…” Zeda said, a crack in her voice as she held it up to him. His jaw ticked as her fragrance permeated his subconsciousness.

He was so close to her… burning- ly close and he was blazing to the point of sweet agony.

He pushed himself away from her before he straightened himself.

“That was all, right?" He asked in place of the silence.

"Yes…that was all,” Zeda said almost breathlessly.

Clearly, she had also been affected by their proximity!
