Chapter 11

Rebecca and Parker sprinted through the crumbling ruins of an abandoned city, their boots pounding against the cracked pavement. The bounty hunters were relentless, their hover bikes humming like angry hornets as they weaved between shattered skyscrapers, cutting off possible escape routes.

"We need to stand our ground!" Rebecca shouted, skidding to a halt in a narrow alleyway. She turned, eyes crackling with electricity, her yellow laser sword igniting in a dazzling arc. "We're not outrunning them."

Parker nodded, his indigo blade flaring to life as he raised his free hand. A deep hum resonated as he summoned the moisture from the air, forming a swirling vortex of water around him. "Let's make this quick."

The first bounty hunter leapt from his hover bike, landing with feline grace. His plasma rifle fired a rapid burst, but Rebecca twisted her body, dodging the shots with unnatural speed before hurling a bolt of lightning. The crackling energy struck home, sending the attacker sprawling against a collapsed wall.

Two more bounty hunters advanced, their weapons drawn. Parker raised his arms, and a tidal wave of water erupted from his hands, slamming into them like a battering ram. One was flung back, smashing into the wreckage of a rusted transport, while the other struggled to rise.

A fourth bounty hunter, clad in reinforced armor, lunged at Rebecca with a pair of electrified blades. She met the attack head-on, parrying with her yellow laser sword. Sparks danced between them as the weapons clashed in a furious exchange. Rebecca sidestepped a downward slash, then countered with a devastating arc of lightning. The enemy convulsed before crumpling to the ground.

Parker found himself locked in a duel with a bounty hunter wielding twin plasma daggers. The opponent moved with inhuman speed, forcing Parker onto the defensive. With a flick of his wrist, he sent a surge of water beneath his attacker’s feet, instantly freezing it. The bounty hunter slipped, and Parker delivered a swift strike with his indigo blade, knocking the daggers away before landing a final, precise blow.

The last bounty hunter tried to escape, leaping back onto his hover bike. Rebecca narrowed her eyes and thrust her hand forward. A jagged bolt of lightning lanced through the air, striking the bike’s engine. The machine exploded in a brilliant display of fire and metal, sending the rider tumbling.

Silence fell over the battlefield. Rebecca exhaled, lowering her sword as the electric energy surrounding her dimmed. Parker wiped a trickle of sweat from his brow and grinned. "That was intense."

Rebecca smirked. "They’ll think twice before coming after us again."

With their enemies defeated, they turned toward the horizon, knowing the battle was far from over—but for now, they had won this fight.
