The Stir at the Count's Manor

Joining the Silverlight Order of Knights seemed like an alluring prospect.

But Oliver did not respond immediately. After a few questions about the Silverlight Knights’ duties, he couldn’t help but shake his head inwardly.

If he were to become a Silverlight Knight, he would be required to obey orders from the Mage Tower—or more specifically, from the Tribunal—and travel across the kingdom to slay vengeful spirits, evil wizards, and sometimes even nobles who broke the rules of the Mage Tower. It was a dangerous and adventurous life, one that would test his strength and skill.

Many knights grew stronger through endless battles.

Oliver didn’t fear danger or challenges, but he knew that if he became involved in such affairs, he would have little time left to venture into the forest, which had been so instrumental in his rise. To him, this wasn’t a trade worth making.
