Chapter Twenty: June

The moment I stepped into the meeting room, the head manager greeted me with a warm but distracted smile.

"Miss Luper! Great to have you here." He extended his hand. I shook it firmly, wearing my practiced, polite smile. "Thanks for coming on such short notice. I’m tied up with back-to-back meetings today."

He flipped through a file, barely glancing up. His rushed tone didn’t bother me—I was used to the chaotic, fast-paced demands of this industry.

"I understand," I said, calm and professional. "Given how long this project’s been stalled, I’ll need the full cooperation of the team. I’ll be guiding them over the next month to ensure we hit all targets."

His shoulders relaxed as I signed the contract. Relief was written all over him.

"You sure you don’t want to interview me first?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

He chuckled. "No need. Your reputation precedes you. We’re lucky to have you, Miss Luper."
