“June its time” Mia walks towards me, I blinked, refocusing. “I was just thinking about something.” I apologized and took the bouquet from her.
“Hello June it’s been so long” Sam greeted me at the entrance, his voice smooth and familiar.
I nodded, keeping it casual. “Hey, Sam.”
“Hey, handsome,” Mia chimed in from behind me, her signature flirt on full display.
Sam chuckled, shaking his head. “Mia, you never change, do you?” He threw her a playful wink.
She shot back a teasing grin, but I could already feel his attention shift back to me. As we walked down the aisle together, he leaned in, voice low. “I know it’s awkward for you to be here.”
I kept my gaze ahead. “It’s been three years,” I murmured back with a small smile, the weight of old memories pressing against my chest. We took our places, and I sighed internally. Weddings. I still didn’t get why people did this to themselves.
