That night, after the grand family dinner, Vergil escorted his five adopted daughters to their chambers. Each of them clung to their respective pets—adorable puppies that had been entrusted to them by Vergil. He had ensured the animals stayed with their owners, both to comfort the girls and to avoid any potential mischief or illness the young creatures might cause.

Sitting on the edge of the large bed where his daughters had gathered, Vergil began telling them a bedtime story. His deep, calm voice recounted the tale of a prince and princess who fell in love despite the trials they faced. The girls listened intently, their expressions softening as they drifted into slumber one by one, their pets cuddled close beside them.

As the last of the girls closed her eyes, Vergil quietly stood and tucked the blankets around them. Turning toward the door, he found his mother, Eva, standing just outside. She had been passing by and stopped to check on her granddaughters.
