Draneir saw the black space and the white stars. And in the middle of such a boring and yet interesting view there were the two main fleets of the Galactic Super Sector… No, it felt wrong to say that they were the Galactic Super Sector's two main fleets. They were Tanya's main fleets. The only fleets that could actually engage in offensive operations.
First, the Task Force 1.
One Assertor, named Vader's Wrath, 50 Imperial Star Destroyers and a hundred support ships.
Second, the Task Force 2.
Two Bellators, the first one. Perseverance. Main ship of Tanya and the one he was on right now. It has also served as the governing building of Tanya's for the last months. A perfect bunker. But it could no longer be Tanya's governing building because Max insisted that it was not a good idea to have a battleship landed and serving as government building.
The second Bellator was named Negotiator.
Tanya's humor was really beyond normal people's comprehension, she sometimes liked to say that if they want negotiations she will give them negotiations. Usually no one gets it until they find that she has in fact one of the most powerful spaceships in the galaxy named Negotiator.
Together with those two Bellators, the second Task Force also has 50 Imperial Star Destroyers and another hundred support ships.
These two task forces consumed 10% of the budget given to the Navy. They were Tanya's only tool to bite the fuckers who decided to rebel or atack her.
And these two magnificent fleets would be sent to destroy the Hutt navy on Tatooine. Draneir, as Grand Admiral, was second in command of this fleet. Admiral Tryo was to be in charge of the main offensive. Some people would ask questions of why the Grand Admiral was the second in command. But most officers knew that Draneir was Tanya's right hand and thus his rank didn't mean he was to do the activities of someone of his rank. Some officers criticized this but others were happy that even if she gave him the rank of Grand Admiral he wouldn't take his rank's duties until he proved himself useful as second in command.
"Isn't it marvelous? Tanya's fleet looks so gorgeous." Said Max, behind Draneir. His tone of voice seemed as if he lusted for the fleet. Draneir knew that Max was just fucking around.
"Stop bothering me and do the thing you have come to do"
Max lifted his shoulders.
"You have heard it, you can approach here and start recording"
A group of three journalists rapidly advanced and started recording. Like the common trend around the galaxy, the cameraman had one of his eyes replaced with a camera that recorded everything.
"So, why do we need to record the navy preparing to jump to hyperspace in formation?" Asked Draneir with curiosity. He didn't know anything about propaganda. He was, for much it hurt him, just good in the business of killing people with a big as fuck spaceship.
And logistics. He was also good with logistics.
"So, the main thing is increasing patriotism. You might not get it, as you are a military man. But probably 60% of the galaxy has never seen an Imperial ship"
"A 60?"
"Well, I just pulled that number out of my ass. But you get the idea. Most of the Galaxy has never seen an Imperial Ship, and probably not even 5% of the galaxy has seen an entire combat-prepared imperial fleet. By showing our fleet to the world we will not only increase nationalism but we will make the population feel secure"
"I understand that they will feel secure, for we will show our military might. But nationalism? How seeing our fleets will make them… more inclined to defend the Empire?"
Max thought for a moment. It was hard to explain something when you have assumed it to be so. His first year of studies explained concepts that were learned throughout thousands of years so he just assumed them right. But he never questioned them.
"So tell me. When you think of the Empire. What do you think?"
Draneir was hit by that question. He honestly didn't think about it and after some seconds of contemplation he finally had the answer.
"Coruscant, Eriadu, the army, the navy, Stormtroopers also oh, also the…"
Draneir began snapping his fingers trying to remember the word.
"The…?" Asked Max
"The waterfalls of Tiroliu. That view was perfect. I have a picture of it in my room. I and Tanya went to that planet on a mission and ended up letting the crew have a day off to see the waterfalls. I'll tell you. They were precious. The water has a thousand different colours and in the evening. Oh god damn. In the evening it was just precious"
"Right, so the waterfalls. Tell me why you associate them with the Empire"
"Because it is an imperial planet that collaborates with us in their own will. They are the ideal imperial planet and also have perfect views"
"Exactly, and how would you know they exist if you hadn't visited"
"I guess I wouldn't know"
"Exactly. The propaganda mission is for people to know. We have these vehicles, we have done these things. Not every imperial can travel around the galaxy so we have to bring the galaxy to them. Show them our armies, our planets, our people. We have to make them understand how big the Empire is and what good things we do. The Imperial propaganda until now… has been lacking. But now with me in charge I believe that I can cook something up here"
"I get the idea, honestly it makes sense. But isn't it arrogant of you to assume you can do better than the ones that tried before you?"
"I have an infinite budget and Tanya's complete support. I dont even have censors fucking around. Of course I will do a very good job. Also I am simply better than the fuckers of the COMPNOR"
"COMPNOR?"
"You are not much into politics. Are you?"
"I hate politics"
"Understandable. Honestly I hate it too. But you know. The money they pay there is good. Anyway, the Commission for Preservation of the New Order. Those fuckers are the ones that supported the Emperor and now support the self called -True Imperials- in contraposition to the reformists."
"So they are enemies? Can't we just purge them?"
"Without starting a civil war? No"
"Well fuck"
Both men looked at the space again, while the journalist group was recording everything they could. The auxiliary fleet of the Clone Troopers suddenly rose from the planet. 20 Venators and 20 Acclamators. It was a big as hell fleet for a group that did not exist until they willingly joined the Empire. Tanya also seemed to favour them a lot.
"It will be the first time we use auxiliary forces in a space battle. I am not so sure about this" Said Draneir with a sigh. Ignoring how the cameraman was almost attached to the transparisteel. Trying to get the perfect shot of the Clone Navy joining the formation of the Imperial Navy.
"Well, sure as hell it will be good propaganda. The old guard of the Republic join voluntarily to the Empire in their first joint operation against the Hutt menace"
"Well, if you put it like that. yes, its sound inspiring"
"I said to you. I think I will be a good propagandist for Tanya"
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I looked to the sky through the binoculars I had with me. I could see the space fleet ending the preparations. Soon they would travel to Tatooine and help the siege there. If I win this battle the war with the Hutts will be over and I could finally sign a treat to my interest.
"Good luck"
The space fleet then entered hyperspace. Disappearing from my sight
Was this the feeling of the Japanese military when they sent their fleet to Pearl Harbour? Was this the feeling of Hitler when he sent his army to invade the USSR? Was this the feeling of Churchill when he heard of how the battle of France developed?
Truly, to be leader of a territory was worse than being a general on the front. If I was at the head of the fleet attacking Tatooine I could trust my own abilities and experience to win the battle no matter how many surprises the Hutts brought me. But I can't just leave the capital, not anymore. Things were moving fast and I had to rely on my officers, trust them for these battles.
I guess that's what happened with Stalin. He couldn't trust his armed forces so he instaurated the political commissars and did the purges.
I was in a similar situation. I couldn't trust the army, nor the navy. To be honest, the only branch of the military of which I was sure that not only was loyal to me but could deliver results was the Stormtrooper corp.
And it was because they were the political army of the Emperor. The SS of this galaxy.
Things have been moving rather slowly for the past few months. No, they haven't. Actually they have been very fast. But at the same time slow.
In the internal front I reformed the administration, the territory, and the laws in less than 6 months. On the external front I destroyed all big pockets of rebels and traitors.
But I also still couldn't trust my army, or my navy. I had to reform the bureaus, take power from the ISB, and reform the military educational system. Not to even start talking about the internal groups that are slowly organizing themselves but I cannot attack, because it could give the central government a good argument to interfere in my territory.
I was fucked. But at least things were advancing.
I sat in the chair of my office. It was comfortable and big.
I couldn't avoid smiling when I saw the wine on my table. A gift from the reformists. The best wine in the galaxy according to most of the wine related magazines that I read from time to time. Valorated into 150 million credits.
With 150 million I could order the creation of an entire Imperial Star Destroyer. Yet, the price of an ISD was in front of me in the form of a wine bottle. I could just drink it entirely in one day and 150 million credits would disappear from the world. Just like that.
I guess, this is capitalism. This wine probably cost less than some thousand credits, most of the price came from how few of them there are, only 100 being produced every standar year. The price of the wine didnt come from how much it cost to produce, but how much people bid for it. Most of the rich men in the galaxy, bidding over a wine bottle.
…
I should sell it… No, honestly 150 million credits will not significantly change how much money the government has. I should keep it instead. Drink it when I finally win…
Win? Win against what? Against Being X? Didn't I already win against him? I don't know. He hasn't appeared in front of me since I began life in this galaxy.
But then, if not Being X. Who should I win against?
The New Republic? The so-called "true imperials"?
I took the bottle of wine in my hands. The red of the wine was dark, I could see myself in it and then I saw my blue eyes…
Then I saw it. The golden eyes.
"Kill everyone who opposes you. In the end, you have a dream. Don't you? Make things better. Make things right. You already have taken several steps in that direction. Why stop now?"
I looked to my left, there it was, a little version of me. In my old uniform of the Imperial army.
"Are you real or just an illusion?" I asked her.
"Who knows?" She answered, raising her shoulders.
"How am I supposed to know I am doing the right thing?"
"Are you convinced you are doing the right thing?"
"I don't know, ask the mothers that no longer have sons. I hate peace because peace makes me think of my actions and what consequences they have"
"But yet, instead of joining to the battle of Tatooine, you stayed here"
"I have to run a government…"
Tanya laughed.
"You know. Isn't it beautiful how much we have evolved? Salaryman, me, you now. Our evolution is something incredible. Do you think Salaryman cared about the imperial soldiers that died? He didn't even care if someone in the 203rd died. Now look at me, I only cared about the 203rd and some military members that were my friends. And now you, that you care about all the army and its families. I wonder how much we will develop when you die and the next comes, and then the next, and the next, and the next…"
"Are we in an eternal loop of reincarnations?"
"Maybe"
Seconds of silence passed as I thought about it…
"I think, victory will come when I secure this galaxy"
"And what is securing the galaxy?"
"Controlling all the Galaxy, under the same government. I guess that government should be reformist, as the True Imperials are just… dumb and inefficient"
"So you want a civil war?"
"I don't want a civil war. War is bad… but also is the only way I think the galaxy can be improved"
"How many years of galactic civil war would happen if you betrayed the central government right now?"
"I wouldn't betray them, they betrayed me… but I don't know how many years it would be, 5? maybe 10? Who knows, maybe even 50. The French and the British were at war for 100 years in a territory so small it looks like a United States province. Who knows how much a galactic civil war can be fought"
"And what about negotiations, have you lost all your hope on that side? Collaborating with them, maybe they become rational or something when they see you are open to cooperation. Reformists and True Imperials working together."
"I thought you didn't like them?"
"As much as you do. I am just bringing options to the table"
I guess, if they show that they want to collaborate I would be open to it. Actually no, collaboration would be a good thing. Less war, less deaths. Improving the Empire as a whole through reformation instead through civil war. If the offer appears I should take it within my hands and never let it go until it comes true. So much death can be avoidable… Yes, collaboration with the True Imperials should be something I should search for. They for sure wouldn't miss the opportunity to avoid a civil war through cooperation but they see themselves as in a position of power right now… If they lose the battle of Mon Cala collaboration will be possible.
"That's my girl, you have a plan now. Don't you?"
"Not a plan, but at least a more thought-out objective. So far I only wanted to survive and have my revenge against the central government. But I think things can go right now that I have realized that cooperation is possible"
Tanya smiled and looked at me.
"I honestly don't know what you are or if you are even real… But thank you" I said to the image of my past Tanya in front of me.
"You know, you can always count on me when it comes to helping you. In the end. If I dont help myself. Who will?"
I smiled a little bit. I always had myself and Draneir… I guess Max also sometimes but he was also annoying.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gilad Pellaeon looked at the fleet that had been assembled by the Moff Council… It was big, very big. The greatest fleet ever assembled in the Empire's history. But it was so disorganized that he doubted its combat efficiency. Every Moff powerful enough put an admiral in the ships and of course every admiral was independent. So the fleet wasn't a fleet, but 20 fleets organized together under the same idea. Who was in command? There was no one in command.
How the Moff Council thought this was a good idea? They probably didn't think it was a good idea. They just had to do it this way because it was the only way that all the Moffs accepted to cooperate.
What was the mission?
To enter in the classic V formation to Mon Cala and then expand every "line" of the V in order to little by little encircle the New Republic formation until they are encircled completely and then destroy them. A classic strategy of a fleet that has numbers in its favour.
So every admiral knew they had to follow this plan and it seemed that cooperation was going to work.
But Pellaeon feared what would happen if that tactic falled. What if the chain command had to improvise? How would the 20 admirals coordinate effectively?
Palleon pinched the bridge of his nose. They would soon jump to hyperspace, traveling for a month until they reach Mon Cala. What would happen? Would they win and finish the New Republic for good? Or would they be defeated by the New Republic.
Pellaeon was honestly unsure and pessimistic about the battle to come.
"Why did they not assign me to the south… Tanya Degurechaff is a far much competent than my superiors"
The officers around Pellaeon heard him but couldn't avoid sharing the thought. Tanya constantly won against the New Republic and it seemed that she would soon win against the Hutts. What victories have bringed the Moff Council? What has improved the Moff Council?
The entire fleet morale was down as it has ever been in the Empire's history since its founding.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leia Organa, Mon Mothma, and Luke Skywalker sat in front of the military staff of the New Republic.
General Ackbar was head of the NR armed forces. He looked as if he saw this as a waste of time.
Saw Gerrera as head of the Army. He had a smile on his face, for him this interrogation routine seemed irrelevant, even stupid he would dare to say.
Grand Admiral Raddus was head of the Navy. He was reading reports of the main fleet of the New Republic that were gathering around Mon Cala for the defense against the imperial offensive.
"Do you know why I have invoked the transparency session with the army?" Asked Mon Mothma. Ackbar and Raddus did not care to answer, as they had half of their mind on the conversation and the other half on planning the defense of Mon Cala.
With that scenario. Gerrera sighed.
"You are angry because there have been some rumours about the conquest of Della? One of the jewels of the Empire in the Outer Rim?"
Luke was present as representative of the Jedi Order, which was slowly being created with some temporal help from Ahsoka Tano. According to the New Republic constitution the Jedi Order had the ability to interact as neutral actors in any conflict where the New Republic needed a neutral participant.
On the other hand, Leia was representing the Liberal branch of the New Republic. Supporting decentralized armies, more power to the judicial branch of the government, more investment into anti-corruption organizations and trying to reform the senate into something more democratic and useful.
And Mon Mothma… She was, in the end, the leader of the New Republic. So she had to be here.
"What has the New Republic army done in Della?"
Gerrera raised his shoulders.
"You have the report. It was a heavy battle, the Imperials didn't want to surrender. The first New Republic Army was pretty damaged but in the end it was a successful campaign. Also the Media was there and they have reported that nothing wrong has been done. Why would you be worried about how the New Republic Army acts?"
"Because there have been some rumors about not accepting surrenders, according to our military laws. The New Republic has to accept all offered surrenders even if it is believed that it is used as a trap. Has, at any time, the Imperial Garrison offered to surrender?"
"Negative, you can check the battle reports, hell, you can even send Luke Skywalker to the planet, I am pretty sure he will find that the Empire did not surrender at any time"
Luke's face was unchanged when he was mentioned.
"I have a mission in the next battle against the Empire forces. I couldn't go even if I wanted"
Leia was angry, contrary to Luke who didn't seem bothered. She started the whole process of transparency against the armed forces because of how many rumors came to her personally. So many rumors could not be good.
"We can send Han Solo, and also set up a commission to investigate the battle and see if any crimes against our own military laws have been committed. I am sure this will help a lot to clarify the situation" Said Leia, with a calm tone of voice. But she wasn't happy with Gerrera.
"That can work. As I have already said. The army has nothing to hide and we will cooperate voluntarily in all the process"
Mothma sighed as she stood up. "Then Leia's proposal shall be immediately done to clarify the situation, the transparency session will resume again when the commission has dictated its verdict"
Ackbar and Raddus rapidly stood up and approached Luke.
"Luke, we still need to discuss the tactics for the battle, might you come with us?" Asked Ackbar, as he had a tablet in his hand. He clearly didn't care about the whole transparency session.
Luke looked back to Leia and then again to Ackbar. Statistics said to him that it was probably an imperial lie. And he didn't had the time to go personally, even if he wanted to.
The two calamari and Luke left the room, leaving only Gerrera, Leia and Mothma in the room.
"Seeing this is over and that the Commission will start to investigate the situation. I think it is my time to leave" Said Gerrera as he stood up, slowly walking with his mechanical legs. Who would have guessed that Degurechaff's intervention so many years ago would make it so him took the leadership of the NR army. Destiny was weird.
"I do not trust you," Said Leia as Gerrera left.
"Wonderful, good luck with that" He said, laughing as he left the room. Leia could only hope that Solo finded enough evidence to take Gerrera off the head of the army. She did not trust that bastard for a reason. The most extremist in the era of the Rebel Alliance and now in charge of the army. Could the NR trust the Generals he had put in charge of the army?
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Luke and Leia ate together, in a week the Imperial fleet would be in Mon Cala and Han Solo was already investigating in Della the situation. Leia, although acting as nothing happened, clearly was angry. It was clear as the sky for Luke that his sister had something that affected her deeply. And it was probably because of that planet Della.
"So" Luke started, putting his fork on the table. "What is it that makes you so worried? If you don't talk to me about it don't expect me to understand it"
Luke laughed when saying that. As a way to ease tension.
"Almost no one cares about what happened on Della. Not even you, Mon Mothma only did the transparency session because I insisted. It is frustrating. We are supposed to be different from the Empire. And the rumors make us out to almost be the Empire"
Luke's smile disappeared slowly.
"Do you want to know why I don't care so much about it?"
Leia's harsh eyes looked at Luke, judging him for what he said and for what he would say.
"Why?"
"Because every day is the same, I open the holonet, and a billion news reports appear every minute. Galaxy wide information is not something that a normal person is supposed to consume. I hear that our troops might have acted barbaric in Della. I don't care, chances are that it is probably Imperial propaganda. I can't just go there and have an actual opinion based on the facts that my investigation concludes. I simply don't care about it as I am preparing for a battle that might decide the fate of the New Republic. I can't care as I am doing a census in the New Republic to recruit force-sensitive children to rebuild the jedi order. I can't care as I am tracking all the remaining sith movements in the galaxy. This is the reality sister, a reality that I can't change so I accept it"
Leia started to bite her thumb as she thought about it. The amount of information per minute that generated in this galaxy was simply overwhelming for most of the galaxy. So most of the population simply decided to pick one news publisher and read it constantly. It has become famous that the NRN has already monopolized 64% of the views in NR territory and they have strong connections with the military. Most people believe what it says and the reporting clearly showed how the Empire was the one that did all the barbaric things. Yet Leia reads more than 50 different news media's each day and she has seen some small media companies denouncing the NR army for atrocities in Della based on some soldiers' testimony. But again. Could she trust this rumor or was she overreacting?
No, she did the right thing. Even if in the end Solo returned and said that it is all fake Imperial propaganda, in the end this would help to trust the army more… Yet she still did not trust Gerrera. An extremist, a terrorist. A monster in the skin of a human. That he fights for the right cause doesn't mean he is right.
"It is just… I can't support imagining the New Republic turning into a New Empire but with another name. Killing civilians, thats is not what we are supposed to do"
"Then arrest me" answered Luke. Putting both his hands on the table.
"What? What are you talking about?"
"I have killed Imperials that have surrendered, the civilian losses that are my fault are probably counted in millions. It was me who destroyed the first death star causing an economic crisis that killed billions just by famine. I am the biggest hero of the New Republic but I am the biggest Monster for the Empire. Do you know? Some days ago I was fighting against some Imperials and when they realized who I was they started to beg me for mercy, like I was the very monster I fight against. Leia, as my sister I will say to you this. Accept that we are monsters, but accept it only because we are doing something good, because we are to improve the galaxy, to bring democracy, freedom and destroy the Empire"
"This and Della are different"
"In what Leia? What difference makes one planet that we might or might not destroy on purpose when we have millions of planets to conquer? How many genocides did the Empire do? How many planets were destroyed by the Empire? How many species were enslaved by the Empire? We are monsters, not because we want to be, but because it is necessary to fight the Empire. Do the transparency thing if you want. I promise you that if Solo finds proof that Gerrera acted as a monster without purpose, I will help you to take him out of the Army. But if he doesn't find anything, promise me that you will forget that planet and continue. The liberal party of the New Republic needs you in the head and not worrying of one planet between millions"
Leia squeezed the bridge of her nose.
"Fine"
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gerrera looked at the report in his hand with a smile. The commander he put in charge of the planet assured him that no proof would be found about the Della massacre. Putting away the report and deleting it he laid back in the chair
"Those idiot politicians. They do not understand that to create a future for the Republic the Empire has to be destroyed, all their success eliminated, all their history forgotten, all their loyalists killed, all their proud planets destroyed. Nothing can be left that makes people remember the Empire as something good. For in the future, when the Republic suffers, they will start to remember the Empire as something good and they will start to revolt…"
One of his generals once said that the war had to be long, to make sure of getting rid of the Empire, not only its loyal people, but the Empire as a culture, as a thought, as something that worked once.
For the New Republic to exist, the Empire had to be destroyed, on all the fronts. The NRN was financed with his money, to destroy the Empire in the propaganda fight. The Army was under his generals, to destroy the Empire's -ideal- planets. His soldiers were fueled by rage, most of his best troops were old guerrilla fighters and from armies around the galaxy that fought the Empire.
An army fueled by hate, an army to destroy the Empire in the battle, both cultural and physical.
Nothing could be left from the Empire, if the New Republic was to survive.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Han Solo walked through the debris in the streets, the amount of deaths were simply uncountable. Even Chewbacca looked with disgust at the amount of death. And their hands were not clean of blood. They have killed a lot of people, from criminals to innocents. But this was too much.
"What do you think, did our army do this or the Imperials?"
The sound that came from Chewie's mouth most couldn't understand, but Han did.
"Really? Do you think our army did this?"
Chewie shouted a couple of more words.
"What do you mean that in Kashyyyk the Wookies are doing the same to the Imperials?"
As the conversation flowed, both walked through the debris until they finally reached their destination. In the central part of the city, the only part without debris, some soldiers of the New Republic waited and there were also surviving civilians. Han wanted to talk with them by surprise, without the NR army knowing it. But it seemed like that wouldn't be a possibility. They knew he was coming and apparently they prepared for it. So much collaboration by part of the army could mean anything. From having everything planned to them being absolutely sure they did nothing wrong.
"General Han Solo" Saluted the soldiers, as Han approached the soldiers with the civilians. They looked scared, and even more scared when they saw Han and Chewie.
"Rest, I have come here to investigate, not as a general" Han answered to the soldiers, who rested at his order. "So, are these the only civilians of the city that survived?" He asked with curiosity.
"Negative, most are in tents some kilometers from here, these citizens are some that even if the city is destroyed have decided to live here, we thought this way you couldn't doubt about what they had to say"
With an iconic smile Solo looked at the humans in front of him, all of them were scared as shit, but they were also tired, many had small wounds and clearly showed how dirty and hungry they were. Were there food problems here? Well, it wasn't his mission to discover if there were food problems. But if the NR army acted according to the law.
"Hello citizens of Della, do not worry, I have come here to ask you some questions. Soldiers, would you mind leaving the area?"
"Sir, with all respect, there are still terrorist imperials that do suicide bomb attacks from time to time against our troops and officers. We are here for your security"
"Exactly, and trust me, I don't need you for my security. Chewie is here"
Chewie answered with a roar that scared the shit of all those present. With a smile Solo saw how the soldiers slowly abandoned the area.
"So, how has the battle gone? Please, tell me what happened, I am here to investigate if the NR army has committed any act that could be considered wrong"
The presents looked at each other. Some dared to talk, she was a woman that clearly suffered from malnutrition.
"The Empire forced children and civilians to fight until the end. They never accepted surrender"
She started to cry as she said that. Han was not convinced though. They were crying not because it was a traumatic experience for them. But because they were threatened… Their declarations will serve probably as a way of the army to defend itself in any accusation. But Solo did not trust these declarations.
He will have to walk around the city, trying to find any evidence that could help him. With some luck, he will find something.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Han Solo walked outside the city, it was already night and he found nothing. It was so frustrating, no imperial holo-communications, no physical proof that could allow him to accuse the army.
And so far has the Commission communicated with him. They also didn't find anything wrong or out of the ordinary. Maybe in reality, it was all Imperial propaganda… but those civilians. They were lying, he knew it. He knew when someone lied.
"Damn it" he said, frustrated with not finding any proof.
A sudden commotion caught Solo's attention, out of nowhere a civilian ship began to fly into the sky, running Han Solo arrived at the port for special ships and saw the NR soldiers angry and firing at the ship.
"Stop the firing, what has happened?!"
"Sir!" Shouted an officer that was present. "Some imperial loyalist has escaped with one of our ships"
"Were they military or civilian loyalists?"
"Civilian sirs"
"Then stop firing, it doesn't matter that some civilians decided to run away"
Han sighed as he looked the ship reach the atmosphere and then enter in hyperspace. Really he didnt find any proof of NR army misbehavior. Leia will be so angry at him for this…
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, the transparency session reunited as all the investigation was finished. The results from Han Solo and the Commission was that everything was done according to the military law of the New Republic so the rumours were probably Imperial Loyalist lies to try to fight against the popular opinion in favour of the Republic.
Leia was angry that the investigation failed, she knew Gerrera probably hid everything but she couldn't prove it, even Solo failed to find any proof. How much power did Gerrera have in reality inside the NR?
"With this, I declare that the NR army acted according to the military laws, thus cleaning the army's reputation and stopping this investigation process" Said Mon Mothma as both Luke and Leia looked to her. There were only 12 hours before the battle and Ackbar was nervous. He wasn't pleased with this -political mindless process- but he understood it was necessary.
Gerrera stood up and smiled toward Leia.
"I would recommend you, Princess Leia Organa, that you stop consuming pro imperial news, clearly they have affected your opinions about the army… and it is not a good sign for a politician of our glorious New Republic to trust Imperial lies"
Leia was full of hate toward Gerrera. If she could, he would have never been part of the NR. But she didn't have that power.
"I would recommend to you then, Supreme General Gerrera, that you choose better when selecting your generals, for you lost almost 300,000 soldiers in a city defended by 50,000 Imperial soldiers." Said Luke, as he stood up. Mocking the Army's abilities to complete objectives efficiently.
Gerrera looked with a harsh face to Luke, who had a smug face.
"I knew your father, he was a good man, you, in comparison, are a brat"
"Considering I haven't lost 300,000 soldiers against a garrison of 50,000 men. I think as a brat, I have better military qualities than your generals"
With that last burn, Luke walked away in his full black clothes and cape. With a smug face he laughed a little bit when he felt how Gerrera's dislike of him made the force shake just a little bit.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leia walked in the corridors of the city built to be able to have no-underwater population in it. She soon met with Luke.
"Thank you, for putting in his place Gerrera"
Luke turned around and smiled at his sister.
"You know, I never thought the Iron Maiden to be so passive against the military"
"Politics is politics, I cannot act as I acted when we were a rebellion"
"I bet the rebellion Leia would have thrown hands with Gerrera"
"Have 0 doubt I wanted to"
Both laughed and then hugged.
"If you want, in the future, I can put some of the jedis I will train to accompany the armies and monitor them to not commit crimes"
"How many years will that take? A decade?"
"Probably… but this is going to be a long war…"
Leia smiled.
"I guess then yes, I think that would be a good thing to have. The jedis acting as enforcerFs of the law"
"You have my promise sister, I will try to ensure that the horrors of the past are not repeated in the future"
