Chapter : 4 The Rescue

The three men who had rescued Alex were retired soldiers, their rugged faces and imposing physiques a testament to their years of service. They moved with a quiet confidence, their eyes scanning the room for any remaining threats.

As they led Alex out of the dingy basement, he couldn't help but wonder who had sent them. The answer came soon enough.

"Thomas sent us," one of the men explained, his voice low and gravelly. "Mike, your secretary, contacted him and explained the situation. Thomas knew we were the right men for the job."

Alex's eyes widened in surprise. Thomas was a renowned businessman, known for his ruthless tactics and shady dealings. He was also Alex's friend, and it seemed he had come through in a big way.

Thomas's business dealings were not exactly above board, Alex knew. He was involved in the lucrative trade of drugs, both sales and purchases. But despite his questionable morals, Thomas was a loyal friend, and Alex was grateful for his help.

As they made their way through the deserted streets, Alex's rescuers filled him in on the details of their mission. They had been tracking the woman and her accomplices for hours, following a trail of subtle clues and whispered rumors.

Finally, they had pinpointed Alex's location, and had moved in to extract him. It had been a textbook operation, executed with precision and skill.

Alex couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over him. He was safe, thanks to Thomas and his team of retired soldiers. But as he looked around at the unfamiliar faces, he knew that he still had a long way to go. He had to uncover the truth behind his kidnapping, and take down those responsible. The game was far from over.

As they navigated the deserted streets, the sound of gunfire pierced the night air. It was midnight, and the only ones who should have been out were the city's nocturnal creatures. But the shots were unmistakable, and Michael's instincts kicked in.

"All of you, take position!" he barked, his voice low and urgent.

The three men fanned out, forming a semi-circle around Alex. They moved with practiced ease, their eyes scanning the rooftops and alleys for any sign of movement.

Michael, the leader, took point, his gun drawn and at the ready. He motioned for Alex to stay close, his eyes never leaving the surrounding buildings.

The gunfire had stopped, replaced by an eerie silence. The only sound was the distant hum of a city that never slept.

But Michael knew that silence could be deceiving. He had been in enough tight spots to recognize the calm before the storm.

"Stay sharp," he whispered to his team. "We don't know what we're up against."

As they waited, the darkness seemed to press in around them. Alex's heart pounded in his chest, his senses on high alert.

And then, without warning, the night erupted into chaos.

The three vans came out of nowhere, speeding down the street with a convoy of armed men. The sound of screeching tires and gunfire filled the air, causing chaos and panic in the surrounding area.

Michael and his team fought valiantly, but they were vastly outnumbered. Despite their best efforts, they were no match for the sheer force of their attackers.

The gunfight raged on, with bullets flying in every direction. The sound of gunfire echoed off the buildings, causing a huge commotion in the area. People screamed and ran for cover, terrified of being caught in the crossfire.

The police were dispatched to the scene, but they were still minutes away. Michael and his team were on their own, fighting for their lives.

One by one, Michael's team fell to the ground, their bodies riddled with bullets. Michael himself was the last one standing, fighting bravely until the very end.

As he lay dying on the ground, he locked eyes with Alex, his expression a mixture of regret and determination. Alex knew that he had to get out of there, but he was surrounded by the enemy.

With no other choice, Alex followed the intruders into their van. The vehicle sped away from the scene, leaving behind a trail of destruction and death.

As they drove through the city, Alex's mind was racing with thoughts of escape and revenge. He knew that he had to get out of this situation alive, no matter what it took.

But for now, he was at the mercy of his captors, forced to endure the bumpy ride and the uncertainty of what lay ahead.
