__________
The silence of the night was suddenly broken by a slight movement, causing the five human soldiers in the wooden house next door to startle.
They reacted immediately, quickly donning their armor and preparing for any potential threats.
As the door creaked open, they rushed outside together, eyes scanning the surroundings, trying to pinpoint the source of the disturbance.
"What happened?" One soldier called out, his voice tense.
The soldiers who had been chasing the goblins responded quickly. Their voices carried through the night, "Don't worry, it's just two little goblins that broke in. You guys go back to rest, we'll handle this."
There was a clear tone of disdain in their words, indicating that they did not consider the goblins a serious threat.
Upon hearing that it was just a pair of weak goblins, the other soldiers relaxed, and the tension that had been building dissipated.
They exchanged relieved glances, laughing and joking as they felt the situation was under control.
"You're really making a mountain out of a molehill." One soldier chuckled, "I thought something serious had happened."
Just as the soldiers began to take off their heavy armor and prepare for a well-deserved rest, a sudden crash shattered the stillness of the night.
The door was violently flung open, and goblins poured in like a flood, their yellow eyes glowing in the dark, eager for battle.
"Oh no, it's a goblin attack!" The soldiers shouted, shocked by the unexpected onslaught.
Caught off guard, they grabbed the nearest weapons—iron swords and shields—though they hadn't had time to fully arm themselves. Despite this, their eyes burned with determination, ready to face the oncoming threat. This showed that the soldiers, despite their lack of preparation, were a trained and elite team.
"Quick, form a defensive formation!" One of the soldiers shouted, trying to organize the remaining troops into some semblance of defense in the cramped space.
While they scrambled to defend themselves, Lorraine, who had been lurking outside, seized the opportunity.
With a low shout, "Thunder Technique!" a sharp bolt of lightning flashed through the night, striking one of the soldiers who had been attempting to organize the formation. The soldier was knocked away, and the fragile defense the humans had established was obliterated.
Seeing this, the other goblins were emboldened. Like a wave crashing toward the shore, they surged toward the remaining soldiers, their bloodlust evident.
The battle inside the wooden house intensified.
Although the human soldiers were brave and skilled, the lack of preparation and the surprise attack from the goblins put them at a severe disadvantage.
Despite the goblins' initial advantage from the cover of night, the soldiers' discipline and racial advantages still posed a significant challenge.
After a brief struggle, several goblins fell under the soldiers' swords, their green blood staining the ground. The scene was grim, with the bloodshed unbearable to witness.
Seeing his troops starting to falter, Lorraine knew he needed to take decisive action. He gathered the power of thunder once more, unleashing a more powerful [Thunder Technique].
A bolt of lightning struck a human soldier holding a weapon, knocking him down and simultaneously affecting the two goblins nearby, electrocuting them into twitching corpses.
Though this strike came at the cost of two more goblins, it created a significant opening in the human soldiers' defense.
The goblins seized the opportunity, charging at the remaining soldiers with overwhelming force, quickly overwhelming them.
"Ahhhhhhh!!! No!"
"A mere goblin… How dare you…ugh… Aaaaah!!"
"No… No! Help! Ahhhh!!"
The sounds of the battle shifted from the chaos of clashing weapons to the agonized cries of the human soldiers.
The ground was littered with both goblin green blood and human red blood, along with severed limbs. The scene was horrific.
But before Lorraine could take stock of the carnage, voices rang out from outside.
"Huh~ These two goblins can really run. We've been chasing them for so long. Let's go out and take a look." Some human soldiers said from the outside not knowing what was waiting for them inside.
However, as the human soldiers pushed open the wooden door, carrying the severed heads of the two fast-running goblins, they were met with a sight that shocked them to their core.
The leader of the group could hardly believe his eyes. He never imagined that goblins would be bold enough to attack a camp of trained human soldiers.
"Damn it! You actually…"
Before the human soldier could continue his sentence, Lorraine issued a new order.
"Kill them!"
The remaining 20 goblins outside the house, along with the ones inside, rushed forward to attack the five remaining human soldiers.
The battle ended swiftly. Lorraine executed a series of tactics—provoking the enemy, luring them away, and defeating them one by one—until he had captured the abandoned mine.
By the end of the battle, Lorraine had lost 13 goblins, 2 of which were disabled, while the human soldiers had been entirely wiped out.
As the dust settled, Lorraine did not allow his goblins to gloat. He quickly began organizing the next steps.
He sent a few goblins deeper into the abandoned mine to check if there were any remaining iron ore resources. At the same time, other goblins began cleaning up the battlefield, collecting weapons and supplies to be transported back to the goblin nest.
After a night of hard work, as the first light of dawn appeared, Lorraine and his team of goblins had reaped a bountiful harvest.
Not only had they collected dry food and clothing for the coming winter, but they had also gathered the equipment of the 10 fallen human soldiers. These items would prove valuable in improving the combat effectiveness of the goblin warriors.
To Lorraine's surprise, they also discovered a small bag of wheat seeds. For goblins who had long relied on gathering and hunting, this was a potential game-changer.
Of course, regular goblins didn't farm wheat, but Lorraine, with his knowledge as a transmigrator, could!
Just as Lorraine was feeling pleased with the outcome of the operation, the goblin who had been sent to explore the mine returned, breathless with excitement.
"Brother Lorraine! Brother Lorraine! We found iron ore!"
The goblin shouted as he ran toward Lorraine, holding a piece of ore in his hand. His eyes gleamed with expectation.
Lorraine examined the piece closely and noticed something strange. It wasn't iron ore at all.
'System, analyze this ore.'
Upon Lorraine's command, the system immediately began to scan the ore. The scan results appeared on his screen shortly after:
[Item Name: Arcane Conduit Stone]
[Level: Legendary]
[Source: Ancient Relics]
[Attributes:
Magic Power Amplification: +50%
Spell Cooldown Reduction: -20%

[The Magic Stone continuously leaks weak magical light and energy, making it detectable by nearby mages or sensitive creatures.]
[Description: In ancient times on the Xiaer Continent, a forgotten magical civilization created the Magic Stone. This ore contains rich and pure magical power and is highly coveted by wizards. The stone has a deep blue-purple color, with sparkling light spots flowing inside. Its power is unmatched, and it can significantly enhance a wizard's magic. However, it also leaks weak magical energy, which makes the user a target for those seeking the stone.]
"What the hell!"
Upon reading the system's description, Lorraine was overjoyed.
He had wondered why King Giorlar had sent such an elite team to guard an abandoned mine. It turned out there was a hidden treasure!
No wonder the soldiers were only swordsmen and there were no mages— they were guarding this treasure, afraid it would be discovered.
Lorraine smirked, realizing that King Giorlar likely didn't dare keep such a precious item in the castle, fearing other kingdoms might catch wind of it.
From the system's information, Lorraine learned that the Kingdom of Giorlar was located on the border between human and demon territories. As such, its military might was concentrated on defense against demons, with little focus on internal advancements.
"Very good. You found this ore. I'll give you two loaves of bread. Go grab them yourself."
Lorraine patted the goblin on the head, taking the legendary Magic Stone and pointing to the pile of loot behind him.
Two loaves of bread in exchange for an ancient legendary magic Stone. Capitalists would surely admire this deal!
"Thank you, Brother Lorraine! It's so fun to follow you!"
