Later that evening, as Raine sat in his room, reflecting on the match, he received an unexpected visitor. It was Master Solen, his instructor, who had arrived to congratulate him on his victory.
"You did well today," Solen said, sitting across from Raine. "But the true test is still ahead."
Raine looked up at him, his gaze sharp. "What do you mean?"
Master Solen leaned forward, his expression serious. "The Beast Taming Tower's position in the academy has been weakened for years. Winning this tournament won't change that overnight. But it will get you noticed. You'll have enemies, Raine. People who don't want to see Beast Taming rise again."
Raine nodded. He had expected as much. "I'm ready for whatever comes."
Solen's eyes softened for a moment. "Just be careful. The higher you climb, the more dangerous it becomes. People won't hesitate to strike at you from the shadows."
Raine's mind began to race. He had already encountered the dangers of competition and rivalry, but this... this was different. There were forces at play that went beyond the academy's tournament. And he knew that, sooner or later, he would be forced to confront them head-on.
"Thank you for the warning," Raine said, standing up. "But I won't stop now. I'll fight until the end."
Master Solen smiled slightly, nodding in approval. "I thought you might say that. Just remember, you're not alone in this. The Beast Taming Tower has always had its supporters."
Raine's eyes flickered with determination. "Then I'll make sure their faith in me isn't misplaced."
As Solen left, Raine couldn't shake the feeling that something bigger was on the horizon. The academy was changing, and he was at the center of it. But he couldn't afford to lose sight of his ultimate goal. No matter how dangerous the path ahead became, Raine Evernight Valthorn was determined to restore Beast Taming to its rightful place—no matter the cost.
