Chapter 47:A Heroic Sacrifice

Aurélie's eyes locked onto Victor's as she charged towards him. She could see the surprise and fear in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.

With a sneer, Victor raised his gun and fired. Aurélie dodged to the side, avoiding the bullet by mere inches.

But as she turned to face Victor again, she saw Léon jumping in front of her, taking the next bullet meant for her.

Aurélie's world stopped. She felt like she was in slow motion, watching in horror as Léon fell to the ground.

"Léon!" she screamed, rushing to his side.

Pierre and Sophie joined her, fighting off Victor's men as they tried to reach Léon.

Aurélie cradled Léon's head in her lap, tears streaming down her face. "No, Léon, please don't leave me," she begged.

Léon's eyes fluttered open, and he smiled weakly at Aurélie. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "I should have told you about Victor..."

Aurélie shook her head, her heart breaking. "No, Léon, don't apologize. You saved me. You always save me."

Léon's eyes closed, and his body went limp. Aurélie felt a scream building up inside her, but she couldn't let it out.

Not yet.

With a fierce determination, Aurélie stood up, Léon's gun clutched in her hand. She turned to face Victor, who was watching her with a mixture of fear and amusement.

"You're going to pay for this, Victor," Aurélie said, her voice cold and deadly.

Victor sneered, but Aurélie could see the fear behind his eyes. He knew he was beaten.

With a swift motion, Aurélie fired the gun, hitting Victor right between the eyes.

It was over.

Aurélie stood there, frozen, as the reality of what she had just done sunk in. She had avenged Léon's death, but at what cost?

As the police sirens wailed in the distance, Aurélie felt a sense of numbness wash over her. She knew she would never be the same again.

But as she looked down at Léon's lifeless body, she knew she had done what she had to do.

She had saved herself, and she had avenged the man she loved.
