Janna stayed in the workshop, absorbing the ideas Link had planted in her mind. Even as the embodiment of the winds of change, she found it difficult to fully accept Link's bold and forward-thinking plans.
Meanwhile, Link donned his exoskeleton, put on his helmet, and headed to Zaun to help Singed relocate his laboratory.
This was no easy task.
To avoid drawing attention, Link and Singed used the waterways to transport all the equipment and materials to the riverside workshop by boat.
Since Singed's daughter, Orianna, was in a delicate state within her cradle, they spent half a day setting up the necessary pipes and wiring in the workshop to ensure her safety.
To transport Vander, Link maintained a high level of Shimmer intake, ensuring Singed's safety as they moved Vander to the workshop without incident.
Finally, they moved all the plants Singed had cultivated and the biological materials he had collected.
By the time they finished, it was already the early hours of the morning.
"That should do it," Singed said as he injected a vitality-preserving serum into Orianna's cradle.
Link, holding a camera, asked, "Dr. Singed, would it be alright if I took a photo?"
Singed glanced at the camera, then turned away. "Do as you please."
After taking the photo, Link chatted with Singed for a while before leaving.
Singed pulled up a stool and sat beside the cradle, gazing at his daughter, who looked like a sleeping beauty.
"Orianna..."
"Just wait a little longer. I'll make sure you recover."
Link didn't develop the photos immediately. Instead, he returned to the workshop, opened the mailbox, and found the letter from the alternate timeline's Singed. He began writing a reply.
**[Dr. Singed, I've made contact with the other version of you and helped him relocate his lab. I'll hand over your research logs to him to aid in saving Orianna.
I've taken some photos of Orianna and am sending the film along with this letter. I hope it brings you some comfort.]**
After finishing the letter, Link sealed the film and attached it to the message before sending it.
"Link!" Janna flew over and landed on the workbench. "I've been thinking about what you said earlier. How exactly would this journalist thing work?"
Seeing Janna's interest, Link knew she was already on board.
"You'll travel to every corner of the Twin Cities, gathering all the information you can. Then—" Link handed her the camera he had used earlier. "While collecting information, use this camera to document anything important."
"Finally, bring everything back to me, and I'll organize it for publication through the Nightingale Press."
"The initial phase will take some time, so I hope you're prepared."
Link looked at Janna seriously. "Once the name Jan'ahrem resonates throughout the Twin Cities, we can move on to the next step."
"We'll establish the Bluebird Trading Company and launch the Bluebird Newspaper. By tying your identity to the company, we'll turn the influence of Jan'ahrem into genuine faith for you."
"Alright, when do I start?" Janna's eyes were fixed on the camera in Link's hands.
"Not so fast. First, I need to make a camera that fits your bluebird form. Once that's ready, we'll officially begin."
"In the meantime, you can start gathering information and familiarizing yourself with the process."
"Got it!" Janna nodded enthusiastically, muttering to herself.
Curious, Link leaned in to listen.
"Janna, this is your chance to turn things around. Don't let it slip away—"
"Starting today, as a goddess, you'll embark on a new journey. Work hard and reap the rewards!"
Link couldn't help but chuckle at her determination.
Just then, a reply from Singed arrived.
Link set Janna aside and opened the letter.
**[Thank you for your assistance. Seeing Orianna again, even through a photo, is a great comfort to me.
For a failed father like me, this is a form of redemption.
I hope you'll allow me to continue seeking redemption. Even though we exist in different timelines, I wish for her to one day open her eyes and walk in the sunlight again.
As promised, I've included everything in the attachment.
Since you mentioned an interest in Shimmer, I've spent some time cultivating a few flowers specifically for refining Shimmer. I've sent them along as well.
Using these flowers as raw materials can enhance Shimmer's potency while reducing its side effects.
If you're not skilled in cultivating plants, you can hand them over to the other version of me. He'll take care of them for you.]**
After reading the letter, Link retrieved the flowers from the attachment and couldn't help but smile.
The alternate timeline's Singed had a roundabout way of speaking. These flowers were likely cultivated specifically for Orianna, as they would have a miraculous effect on preserving her body.
The enhancement of Shimmer's potency was probably just a bonus.
But getting his hands on these flowers was a win in itself.
The flowers resembled sunflowers, with large blooms, but their color was a serene blue. The flower heads were densely packed with seeds, each plump and marked with thin blue-purple lines.
"These flowers are beautiful. Where did you get them?" Janna noticed the blue sunflowers Link had taken out.
Link made up an excuse on the spot. "These are Dr. Singed's flowers. I'm just borrowing them for a bit. I'll have to return them later."
"Anyway, shouldn't you be out gathering information? I need to return these flowers to Dr. Singed."
After sending Janna on her way, Link carried the two pots of blue sunflowers to Singed.
As he walked, he began to ponder.
"I didn't expect the attachment system to be able to transport plants. I wonder if these flowers were affected during the transfer."
"If they weren't, then the attachment system could have a lot more uses."
At this thought, Link suddenly stopped in his tracks.
That's right!
If the attachment system could transport living things, then it could also store them.
If it could store living things, then it could surely store other items as well.
If he simply stored items in the attachment without sending them, the attachment system would essentially function as a portable storage space.
Link took a sharp breath. Why hadn't he thought of this sooner?
If it could be used as a portable storage space, what were its limits?
Could it store inorganic matter? Organic matter? What about energy-rich substances or even pure energy?
If it could store energy, could it store magic?
And if it could store magic, could it store... the wild runes?
The thought sent a shiver down Link's spine.
If he could store the wild runes in the attachment system, he could effectively seal them away on a separate page of the mailbox.
Without the wild runes beneath the Hexgate, the events involving Jayce, Ekko, and Heimerdinger traveling through time would never happen.
Without those events, many of the subsequent conflicts would naturally dissolve.
This way, Link could focus on handling the remaining key figures and reshaping the Twin Cities step by step.
"I'll need to conduct experiments to determine the limits of the attachment system's storage capacity."
"But I don't have any Hextech crystals for high-energy testing. That might complicate things—"
After some thought, Link remembered his design for an electric engine.
"If I don't have Hextech crystals, I'll build the clockwork electric engine and use electricity for testing. If that works, I'll ask Janna to help with magic testing."
"If all the tests succeed, then I'll target the wild runes and seal them away in the attachment system!"
