"What... is this?"
Ambessa's eyes widened as she stared at the ethereal figure in the howling wind.
Though the figure was translucent, it radiated an aura of sacredness that demanded reverence and respect, compelling those who saw it to bow in worship.
"This is my gift to you, General Ambessa."
Link stood amidst the swirling winds, the phantom image of Janna looming behind him.
"As a chosen servant of the Storm's Fury, I walk this earth by Her will, guiding lost lambs toward the right path!"
"It is through Her that I have come here, bringing divine blessings to you and your daughter!"
"Now, rejoice!"
Link's voice echoed through the cabin, carried by the wind.
"Rejoice in the arrival of Janna, for your chaotic fate and future have found a guiding light!"
"The Storm's Fury... Janna..." Ambessa murmured in disbelief. "A goddess..."
"Janna will protect your daughter from the Black Rose, and I will show you the path to reclaim your glory and status in Noxus!"
"All you need to do is offer your faith and fulfill your promises."
Ambessa instinctively glanced at her daughter, Mel. Of her two children, only Mel remained.
Because of the Black Rose, she had been forced to flee Noxus like a stray dog.
But even in Piltover, she hadn't found what she sought, wasting time as regret, anger, and resentment gnawed at her heart like ants.
Now, a new path lay before her. Should she accept it, or reject it?
No, she couldn't refuse.
She had to protect her family and reclaim everything she had lost with her own hands.
This opportunity was right in front of her, and she couldn't let it slip away.
Ambessa stepped down from her seat and knelt before Link, bowing her head as she spoke in a low, solemn voice.
"I offer my faith, praying that the Storm's Fury will show mercy to my family and guide me forward!"
"Do not fear the winds of change—" Janna's ethereal voice echoed through the air. "—They will always guide you forward!"
"Praise Janna!" Link clasped his hands together, bowing his head in prayer. Ambessa followed suit, murmuring, "Praise Janna!"
The wind in the cabin died down, and the phantom figure vanished. Link extended his hand to Ambessa, speaking softly.
"Congratulations, General. You have gained Janna's protection."
"No," Ambessa grasped Link's hand firmly. "It is I who should thank you."
"Then, let us continue our earlier conversation," Link said.
Ambessa nodded. "Of course, but please allow me some time to freshen up."
"Take your time."
As Ambessa left, Mel hesitated, unsure whether to follow. She glanced at Link, then bit her lip and decided to stay.
She had many questions she wanted answered.
After Ambessa left, Link heard the clinking of armor and weapons in the hallway outside the reception room.
Ambessa was truly the Iron Wolf Mother—ruthless, meticulous, and cunning.
On the surface, she had dismissed Rek'Sai to showcase her magnanimity and authority.
But in secret, she had ordered Rek'Sai to gather soldiers outside, ready to strike at a moment's notice.
Unfortunately for her, Link was one step ahead.
"You..." Mel took a step toward Link, her voice trembling. "I still don't know your name."
"You may call me Spider," Link said, glancing at her. "I know your doubts, Miss Mel."
"But today, those doubts will finally be answered."
"So, you're going to tell me the truth?" Mel's eyes lit up.
Link nodded. "The truth is simple. Your body contains immense magical power, and the Black Rose has set their sights on you, wanting to use you for their own purposes."
"But they only knew that the Medarda family had a child with such power—they didn't know who it was."
"So..." Link trailed off, leaving the rest unsaid.
Mel's eyes widened, her lips trembling. "So my brother..."
"Exactly," Link confirmed. "After your brother's death, they finally identified their target."
"Your mother carries the weight of your brother's death and came to Piltover to protect you and seek the power to avenge him."
"No wonder Mother has always been so interested in Hextech..." Mel's confusion was replaced by understanding. She looked at Link with gratitude. "Thank you for your help, Mr. Spider."
"No need for formalities," Link shook his head, walking over to the weapons hanging on the wall. "This is all part of Janna's plan."
"Janna..." Mel nodded. If it was the will of a goddess, then everything made sense.
"However, you must remain vigilant, Miss Mel," Link turned to face her. "Your situation is still dangerous. The Black Rose could strike at any moment, so you must stay alert. And by offering your faith to Janna, she will grant you even greater protection."
"I will," Mel took a deep breath and nodded solemnly.
Ambessa returned quickly, dressed in formal attire, just as Link and Mel finished their conversation.
"My apologies, Herald," Ambessa bowed her head slightly. "I took longer than expected."
"It's no trouble, General," Link smiled. "We have plenty of time."
"Then, about what you mentioned earlier—" Ambessa's eyes gleamed with anticipation.
Link spoke calmly. "The origins of the Black Rose date back to before the founding of Noxus. Their leader has existed since then."
"Is the leader of the Black Rose also a goddess?" Ambessa's eyes widened.
Link shook his head. "You overestimate her. She is merely an ancient witch."
"Her true name is LeBlanc."
Link locked eyes with Ambessa. "Many call her the Pale Woman."
"As for her weakness..." Link smirked. "She fears the return of a terrifying being and the vengeance that being would bring."
"I cannot tell you the name of this being, for it would bring you misfortune and suffering."
"Just remember that LeBlanc lives in constant fear of this being's return. Everything she does is to make the world forget this being, ensuring they can never return."
"However, a once-in-a-millennium opportunity is coming to Noxus. You must seize it."
"What is it?" Ambessa couldn't help but ask.
Link replied, "A man named Jericho Swain will end Emperor Darkwill's rule over Noxus. Align yourself with him, and you will have the chance to reclaim your place at the pinnacle of Noxian power."
"Jericho Swain..." Ambessa repeated the name thoughtfully. She had heard of him—a man who had killed his own parents to prove his loyalty to the empire.
But could he really overthrow Darkwill?
It seemed almost unbelievable.
"Yes, find him, support him, and you will have your chance to rise again."
Link nodded. Ambessa pressed, "What about LeBlanc—"
"I will help you get your revenge, but the time is not yet right, General."
"For now, you must offer your faith and the faith of your followers. Show Janna your loyalty, and she will grant you more."
"Power, wealth, status—whatever you desire, it will be yours."
Link stepped closer to Ambessa, meeting her gaze.
"I swear in the name of Janna, in the name of the goddess, that all you desire will come to pass!"
Later that evening, Link returned to the riverside workshop.
As soon as he entered, Janna flew over, her voice tinged with confusion.
"I don't understand why you're trying to win over a group of Noxians."
"Weren't you planning to drive them away?"
Link removed his helmet and wiped the sweat from his brow.
"Ambessa is a hungry wolf. If she doesn't get what she wants, she'll lurk in the shadows, biding her time and waiting for an opportunity."
"Her demands are simple: to protect her daughter and gain the power to seek revenge."
"I've shown her a new path—one where she can reclaim everything on her own."
Link began removing his exoskeleton. "But in exchange for my guidance as a chosen servant, she must offer her faith, and her soldiers must worship you."
"You gain faith, which will restore your power. Once your power is restored, our plans will proceed more smoothly."
"Meanwhile, I've stabilized an external threat and gained Mel's support."
"The council once had eight seats. Heimerdinger was voted out, leaving seven. Jayce is currently too distraught to fulfill his duties, leaving six. Three councilors died in the attack, leaving three."
"Of the remaining three, Mel holds one, the paralyzed Salo holds another, and the third is a councilor with little influence."
"With Mel's support, I only need to cure Salo to gain the backing of two out of the three remaining councilors."
"Once that's done, I can influence Piltover through the council, changing the fate of the Twin Cities and everyone in them."
