"Kill them all."

Link Star took a step back, positioning himself behind Pride.

Pride, his head nearly brushing the ceiling, stood tall. His dark golden eyes flickered with a dangerous red glow as he took a heavy step forward, shattering the floor beneath him. A low growl escaped his lips.

"As you command, Father."

"What... what is this monster?"

The spy was utterly stunned by the sudden appearance of Pride. His massive frame, forged entirely of steel, exuded an aura of terror far beyond anything the spy had ever encountered, even the monstrous creatures of his past.

But what truly unnerved him was Pride's gaze—cold, ruthless, and brimming with an arrogance that seemed to look down on all existence.

The spy raised his gun, but before he could fire, Pride lifted his head and spoke with a voice dripping with disdain.

"Insignificant insect. Kneel and end your own life. That is your only salvation."

The spy didn't respond. Instead, he pulled the trigger.

A beam of energy, fueled by a Hextech crystal, shot through the air, aimed directly at Pride's head. In the spy's experience, any creature—no matter how powerful—would perish if its head was obliterated.

But this time, he was wrong.

Before the beam could reach Pride, he raised his hand and intercepted it. The energy exploded harmlessly in his palm, and with a hiss of steam, Pride's eyes glowed brighter.

"Pathetic worm. You've squandered my mercy and forfeited your chance at redemption."

In a flash, Pride closed the distance between them. His massive hand closed around the spy's head, lifting him off the ground until they were eye to eye.

"In the afterlife, repent for your insignificance and sins."

A searing beam erupted from Pride's mouth, reducing the spy's upper body to ash. The remaining half was tossed aside like garbage, crashing through the floor as Pride's weight caused the structure to collapse, sending him plummeting down to the basement.

Link Star clicked his tongue as he peered down into the gaping hole. "I'll need to install an anti-gravity system for Pride. His weight is becoming a liability."

"What... what is that?" Nedri was in shock. The moment he laid eyes on Pride, his entire worldview shattered.

This creature was magnificent—powerful, elegant, and awe-inspiring, like the Ascended beings from Shuriman myths.

"My eldest son," Link Star said, crossing his arms with pride. "And my most perfect creation. His name is Pride."

"How... how did you do this?" Nedri stammered, his words tumbling out in a rush. "I've never seen anything like him. It's... it's a miracle!"

"Exactly. A miracle."

"Just talent and hard work. Nothing special," Link Star shrugged, but Nedri shook his head vehemently.

"No, my uncle once told me: Humans cannot create beings beyond themselves. That is the domain of the gods, their divine right."

"Is that so?" Link Star scratched his temple. Nedri nodded emphatically. "Of course! I wouldn't lie about something like this."

"Well, good for you."

Link Star glanced at the hole Pride had created and quickly gathered Nedri's belongings, stuffing them into a bag.

"Let's go. This place is about to become a battlefield. I hope the owner accepts a check as compensation."

"What?" Nedri was still dazed, but Link Star grabbed him and leaped out of the third-floor window.

The wind howled around them as they fell, but a gust of air cushioned their descent, allowing them to land safely on the ground.

"There are two people guarding the outside of the inn," Janna's voice whispered in Link Star's ear.

"Don't worry. Pride will handle them. Just keep us shielded, Janna."

A barrier of wind enveloped them, solid and unyielding.

Nedri stared at Link Star, his mouth opening and closing as he struggled to find words.

This man, who could create such a breathtaking mechanical being, was capable of anything.

"Is that what you've been working on for the past ten days?" Janna asked, her gaze fixed on Pride.

"Six days, actually. The last four were for rest," Link Star corrected.

"You always manage to come up with these bizarre creations to shock everyone."

"I prefer to call it a pleasant surprise," Link Star chuckled.

"Janna, could you help evacuate the people in the inn?"

"Of course, my not-so-lovable chosen one."

Janna transformed into a gust of wind, guiding the inn's occupants to safety. However, the inn only had two people—the owner and Nedri. Since Nedri was already with Link Star, Janna only needed to rescue the owner.

As soon as Janna left, a deafening roar erupted from the inn.

The building shook violently, cracks spiderwebbing across the walls. Dust filled the air as the structure groaned under the strain.

"You will all perish!"

A deep, resonant voice boomed from within the inn. A beam of light shot through the walls, creating a massive hole as four figures scrambled out.

One was the innkeeper, and the other three were spies sent by Silco.

The innkeeper, shielded by Janna's wind, collapsed to the ground, his eyes wide with terror as he watched his property crumble.

The three spies weren't faring much better. Their bodies trembled, and a sense of helplessness washed over them.

Just moments ago, one of their comrades had been vaporized by that beam of light.

It was as if a bubble had been popped—gone in an instant.

What kind of monster existed in Zaun?

Their employer hadn't warned them about encountering something like this!

"Insects."

Pride emerged from the collapsing inn, each step causing the ground to tremble.

He hunched slightly, pushing aside the crumbling ceiling with ease. His eyes locked onto the remaining five spies.

"Kneel. Then die."

Pride took another step forward.

"There is no other option."

The spies exchanged glances. One of them noticed Link Star standing nearby and his eyes lit up.

"Target spotted."

"That monster must be his creation. Capture him, and the beast will hesitate!"

One of the spies hissed, and three of them immediately charged toward Link Star.

Pride's chest heaved with anger, the red glow in his eyes intensifying. The crown-like horns on his head began to rotate, and a clock face materialized above him.

"You wretched insects. Your sins are unforgivable!"

With a thunderous roar, the clock above Pride's head froze.

Time itself came to a standstill.

Since Pride was Link Star's creation, his soul bound to Link's, only Link remained unaffected by the temporal freeze.

"Is this... time stop?" Link Star raised an eyebrow, observing the frozen world around him.

Pride took a single step, appearing in front of the three charging spies. With a swift motion, his claws extended into glowing blades, slicing through their bodies as if they were butter.

He then unleashed another beam, evaporating the remaining two spies.

Time resumed.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

The sound of flesh hitting the ground echoed as a beam of light shot into the distance, carving a deep scar into the mountainside of Zaun.

The intense heat melted the rock into lava, which dripped down the cliffside, clearing the smog-filled air in an instant.

"What... what just happened?"

Nedri was stunned. In the blink of an eye, the dangerous assailants had been wiped out.

"Nothing happened," Link Star said, patting Nedri's shoulder with a reassuring smile.

"Is... is that so?"

Nedri stared at the devastation before him, feeling as though he were trapped in a dream from which he couldn't wake.
