In a dimly lit chamber, the five remaining Wings of the organization gathered. Their faces were hidden by shadows, their identities concealed even from each other. Tension hung thick in the air as the sound of footsteps echoed through the room. The Boss entered, his face obscured in the darkness, and took his place at the head of the table. His presence alone commanded absolute silence.
One of the Wings, No. 4, broke the silence. "Why the emergency meeting, Boss?"
The Boss's voice was cold and commanding. "Two Wings, Kuro and David, are dead. Killed by unknown forces. And Peter has escaped. Worse, we've lost track of the Old Wings. They've disappeared without a trace."
A sharp laugh broke through the room. It was No. 3 Wing. "Kuro and David? Weaklings. They weren't fit to be Wings. Their deaths were inevitable."
No. 2 Wing's voice cut through the room, sharp and disapproving. "Silence, No. 3. This isn't a time for jokes. The death of two Wings is a serious matter."
No. 3 leaned forward, his tone mocking. "And what will you do about it, No. 2? Scold me some more?"
The tension escalated as No. 2 rose from his seat, stepping toward No. 3. Their auras clashed as they prepared to fight, but before they could act, No. 1 Wing's voice, calm yet commanding, cut through the room.
"Enough."
Both No. 2 and No. 3 stopped immediately, their movements halting like puppets on strings. The room grew still, and the other Wings, No. 4 and No. 5, remained silent. No. 1's authority was palpable, his aura far surpassing anyone else in the room.
The Boss observed the interaction with interest, his hidden expression betraying a hint of approval toward No. 1's presence.
Breaking the silence, No. 5 spoke up, his tone calculated. "It's clear this wasn't random. Someone within the organization might be targeting us. Perhaps a lower-ranked member aiming to dismantle us from within."
The Boss's voice was intrigued. "And how do you propose we find this traitor?"
No. 5 leaned forward, his voice steady as he presented his plan. "We expedite the D Event. Hold it as soon as possible. I'll join the event in disguise as a D-Rank killer to observe and identify any potential threats or unusual activity. If the traitor is among the lower ranks, they'll reveal themselves through their actions."
The Boss remained silent for a moment, considering the proposal. Then, with a nod of approval, he spoke. "An intriguing plan, No. 5. Execute it immediately. Let the D Event begin."
The Wings exchanged glances, their thoughts hidden behind the shadows that masked their faces. As the meeting adjourned, the room's atmosphere carried a sense of impending action and treachery.
The game had begun.
