Chapter 2: Back in the Forest

Chapter 2: Back in the Forest

Lin Yue's eyes flew open, her body wracked with pain. A sharp contraction tore through her, stealing her breath.

Damn, she thought, I almost forgot how this felt.

In the modern world, after she was transmigrated she was saddened but sge got a space and after she got to the modern world a year later she was told an apocalypse

Was going to happen.thank God for fei feng and her host money she was able to survive a little over two years in the apocalypse and was later bitten by a zombie while she was saving people.

The thick mist of the forest surrounded her, pressing in like a suffocating shroud. She blinked, trying to focus, but the sight of towering trees and damp, shadowed earth confirmed her worst fear. She was back in the forest—the same place where she had once lost everything.

Her heart pounded as another wave of pain surged through her. She was in labor.

Her breathing came in short, gasping bursts as she tried to steady herself. Through the haze, she saw Li Wei holding her hand, their children clinging to him. His dark eyes flicked over her, assessing her condition with a calm that only thinly veiled his concern.

"What happened? You stopped breathing for a while," Li Wei said, his tone steady but laced with unease.

"I'll explain later," she rasped, gritting her teeth as pain seized her again. "The babies are coming."

Li Wei frowned but didn't hesitate. "What do you need?"

"Keep the children close," she managed, her breath hitching as another contraction struck. "And don't… move."

He nodded, pulling the children closer to him. Their wide, tear-filled eyes fixed on her, and Lin Yue's heart clenched. They were too young to understand what was happening—too fragile for this harsh world.

Through it all, faint footsteps echoed in the distance, growing louder with every second. Lin Yue's blood ran cold.

She couldn't let them stay here—not in this dangerous, unforgiving forest.

The space.

The thought struck her like lightning. The magical realm she had discovered—could it save them now?

Closing her eyes, she reached inward, searching for the faint spark of power that had once answered her call. It was there, buried deep, waiting for her.

She grasped it and whispered, "Hold on."

The world shifted. The air around them shimmered, and in an instant, the suffocating forest was gone.

When Lin Yue opened her eyes, they were in the space

The space Lin Yue brought her family to was unlike anything found in their world—a surreal, almost dreamlike island that defied the boundaries of logic.

The island was vast, stretching far enough that its edges faded into a shimmering horizon. The sky above was an endless expanse of clear blue, with a golden sun that warmed the land gently, never scorching. A soft, constant breeze carried the fresh scent of the ocean, mingling with the earthy aroma of the forest and the sweetness of blooming flowers.

At the heart of the island stood two contrasting structures. The first was a sleek, modern house—clean lines, large windows, and a roof that reflected the sunlight. Its walls were a crisp white, and solar panels lined its rooftop, providing a source of electricity. Inside, the house was equipped with modern amenities: soft lighting that could be adjusted with a switch, a fully functional kitchen with gleaming countertops, and even a luxurious bathroom with running water.

The modern house was not originally part of the space. Lin Yue had ask her space spirit if she could bring in this house while she was hoarding for the apocalypse after she was told about the apocalypse.this house was originally the house she just built in the country side while in modern world and few weeks after building it she was told an apocalypse was on it way.she immediately ask them to put solar panels and ask them to attach a water tank to it.after a few try and error she was able to put in the space but she slept for a few days after that.

Beside the modern house was the original ancient cabin, built from thick, dark wood and adorned with intricate carvings that spoke of its age and heritage. The cabin had an air of quiet wisdom, as though it had seen centuries pass. Inside, it was cozy but simple, with woven mats on the floor, a stone fireplace, and shelves filled with old scrolls and tools. Though it seemed out of place next to the modern house, the cabin was a reminder of the space's original purpose and its ties to Lin Yue's ancestors.

Near the cabin stood a small stone well, its round frame covered in moss and vines. Despite its humble appearance, the water within shimmered a brilliant, almost otherworldly blue, as though infused with magic. The well never ran dry, and its water had a purity that Lin Yue could feel with every sip—it rejuvenated and refreshed, banishing exhaustion.

The space was dominated by a dense forest, its towering trees providing shade and a sense of tranquility. The forest floor was carpeted with soft moss, and streams of sunlight filtered through the canopy, creating a serene interplay of light and shadow. Birds with vibrant plumage flitted between the branches, their songs adding life to the space.

Cutting through the forest was a sparkling river, its waters so clear that the smooth stones at the bottom could be seen. The river meandered lazily, inviting one to sit by its banks and dip their toes into its cool waters. It eventually flowed into a vast ocean that stretched as far as the eye could see.

Li Wei's eyes widened as he looked around, his usual stoicism slipping. "What… is this place?"

Lin Yue didn't answer. Another contraction tore through her, and she cried out, clutching her swollen belly.

A bird flew toward them, its feathers shimmering with fiery orange and gold.

"Master! Master!" it squawked.

"Fei Feng," Lin Yue gasped. She let out a strained laugh despite the pain. "You've turned into a bird again."

Fei Feng huffed, ruffling its feathers indignantly. "Master, this form is for your sake. Why laugh at me now of all times?"

Ignoring Lin Yue's weak chuckles, Fei Feng darted ahead, flying toward the small house within the space. "I will prepare a room for your delivery," it said firmly.

Lin Yue turned to Li Wei, her face pale with exhaustion. "Stay with the kids. I'll be fine."

Li Wei frowned, shaking his head. "I'll go with you."

He knelt in front of the children and told them, "Stay here. Don't wander."

He followed Lin Yue into the house, his eyes widening as he stepped inside. The room was unlike anything he had ever seen—warm, glowing light illuminated its wooden walls, while soft, silken cushions lined the bed.

He moved closer to the bed's edge, standing stiffly as he took it all in.

"Young master" Fei Feng said, appearing in the doorway, its tone firm yet gentle. "She needs your support."

Li Wei hesitated. "I don't know what to do."

"You don't need to know," Fei Feng replied, its voice calm. "Just stay by her side."

Reluctantly, Li Wei moved closer. He knelt beside Lin Yue, his hand hovering awkwardly before finally resting on her shoulder.

Lin Yue tensed at his touch but quickly pushed her discomfort aside. "Just hold me steady," she muttered through clenched teeth.

The labor was excruciating, each contraction testing the limits of her endurance. Fei Feng's soothing voice guided her, its presence keeping her grounded.

"Breathe deeply, young mistress. You are stronger than you realize."

After what felt like an eternity, the first cry pierced the air. Lin Yue's chest tightened as Fei Feng gently placed a tiny, wriggling baby in her arms.

Before she could fully take in the sight of her newborn, another contraction hit. The second baby was coming.

"You're doing well," Fei Feng encouraged, its voice unwavering. "One more push."

Lin Yue screamed, her entire body trembling with effort. And then, the second cry filled the air.

Tears streamed down her face as Fei Feng handed her the second baby. She cradled them both, their tiny forms warm and alive against her chest.

Li Wei sat back, his face unreadable as he watched her.

"You did it," he said quietly, his tone softer than she expected.

Lin Yue glanced at him, exhaustion mingling with a strange sense of gratitude. For all their differences, for all the pain between them, he had been there when it mattered.

Fei Feng stepped back, its glowing eyes filled with pride. "Rest now, mistress," it said gently, before flying off to check on the children.

Lin Yue leaned back, her body heavy with exhaustion. She gazed down at her twins, their small faces peaceful in sleep.
