The following day dawned with the sound of gentle waves and the scent of salt in the air. Ria woke up feeling refreshed, a sense of calm washing over her. Arun was already up, standing by the balcony with a notebook in hand.
"What are you scribbling so early?" Ria asked, her voice still groggy.
Arun turned, smiling. "Just some thoughts I didn't want to forget. I'll show you later."
Ria narrowed her eyes playfully. "You and your secrets. Should I be worried?"
"Not at all," he replied with a wink. "Come on, let's get ready. We have a busy day ahead."
Curious but trusting, Ria followed his lead.
After breakfast, Arun led Ria to a small jetty where a private boat was waiting for them.
"Where are we going now?" she asked, her excitement bubbling.
"You'll see," Arun said cryptically.
The boat took them to a secluded island, untouched and pristine. The golden sand stretched endlessly, and the lush greenery hummed with life. Arun had arranged for a cozy picnic under the shade of palm trees, complete with a blanket, cushions, and a basket of tropical delights.
"This is beautiful," Ria said, looking around in awe.
Arun grinned. "I thought you'd like it. I wanted to give us a day away from everything—just us and nature."
They spent the morning walking along the shore, collecting shells and laughing like carefree kids. Arun even convinced Ria to build a sandcastle, though it turned out more like a lopsided sand hill.
"Not bad for amateurs," Arun teased, dusting sand off his hands.
"Speak for yourself," Ria shot back, laughing. "I was clearly the architect here."
As the sun climbed higher, they sat on the blanket, enjoying the cool breeze and the sound of waves. Arun reached for his notebook and handed it to Ria.
"I've been writing down thoughts about us," he said, a hint of nervousness in his voice.
Ria opened the notebook, her eyes scanning the pages. It was filled with little notes—memories they'd shared, things he admired about her, and hopes for their future.
"You wrote all this?" Ria asked, her voice soft.
Arun nodded. "I wanted you to know how much this means to me—how much you mean to me. I know we've had our doubts and challenges, but I'm committed to making this work. Not because it's easy, but because it's worth it."
Ria felt a lump in her throat as she read the heartfelt words. She looked up at him, her eyes glistening. "Arun… I don't even know what to say. This is… beautiful. Thank you."
He smiled, taking her hand. "You don't have to say anything. Just tell me one thing—do you believe in us?"
Ria took a deep breath, her heart swelling with emotion. "I do. I really do."
Arun's face lit up, and they sat there in silence for a moment, the waves and the rustling palms their only soundtrack.
That evening, as the boat brought them back to the resort, Ria couldn't stop replaying the day in her mind. Arun's sincerity, the beauty of the island, and the quiet reassurance of their bond—it all felt like a turning point.
Later, as they sat on the deck under the stars, Arun spoke again. "Ria, there's one more thing."
She turned to him, raising an eyebrow. "Another surprise?"
He chuckled. "Not quite. It's more of a promise. No matter where life takes us—good times or bad—I want us to always come back to this. To us. To what really matters."
Ria smiled, her heart full. "I promise too."
And with that, under the endless expanse of stars, their journey took one step closer to something deeper, something more lasting.
