Raven's pov -
It's officially the night before the ball and to describe the amount of feeling I have about it, I can't even describe. I was feeling nervous, terrified to be in a room with all of these vampires without even knowing what I am to begin with, wondering what they'd think of me being their future Queen, to what I was going to wear to make a point that I was to be a part of their royalty?
"Frita, I'm not sure I can even think about eating anything right now with my nerves the way they are. I am starting to panic because I don't even have the dress. Do you have any idea what this is like for me? I've never been to a ball, much less socializing with people I don't know like this before." Pushing my fingers through my hair in nervousness as Frita shuffled through my closet looking for the dress I had in mind.
"Darling Raven, you are the future Queen. You have nothing to worry or stress about, the King will think you are beautiful either way. I don't think it matters what the others will think since they will be your subjects if I'm being completely honest. Just breathe and I promise you, I will find the dress before tomorrow evening." Frita said with laughter in her tone.
Since we're on the subject of the King, we've slowly become closer since things have settled down. He found out the guards were too busy playing cards rather than doing their jobs and he was angry to say the least. I think since the King never really leaves the castle at night to take a stroll or anything, they didn't think they'd get into any trouble. They truly got a verbal lashing and I am sure it won't happen again with the way the King handled things. He has been very forthcoming and even offered for me to sit in on the meetings he conducts so I can get to know the layouts of any security plans and what to do if there is ever an emergency that he couldn't be there for, that I'd know what to do accordingly. Which has truly been helpful because I only knew of cleaning and learning different things to help at the old church. He's even helped me on my defense when it comes to protecting myself against wolves and other vampires, just in case is what he said and for that I am grateful. Of course there was also the nagging feeling that something was going to happen tomorrow night and I was still unsure of how to feel or if I should tell Warrick. I hadn't decided yet what I should do.
"Aha!" Frita's voice brought me back to the present and I peeked around the corner from my view from the bed and raised my eyebrows at her clutching something against her chest.
"Frita?"
"I have found the perfect dress for you!" She spinned around with a blood red dress in her grasp and a matching pair of flats. "I also have the perfect idea for your hair and make up to go with it!" She grinned at me.
I grinned back in response. "You're a lifesaver, Frita. That is absolutely perfect and I can't wait until I see what you have in store for me. I am truly thankful for you."
"No need to thank me, Raven. I do this because it's partly my job but the other half is because I truly think of you as a friend, and I want to see you happy." She hung up the dress on a hook outside the closet door and set the flats next to the door before walking over to me and taking my hand in hers. "You are as close a family as I have, and I would do anything for you. I know we haven't known each other that long but I am grateful you're not some stuck up rich girl the King was mated to." We both giggled and at that moment a knock sounded on my door.
Frita walked over to it and opened it, greeting Warrick with a curtsy.
"Your Majesty." As he stepped through the open doorway, she quickly went over to the closet door and shut it before he could see the dress. "Forgive me, my Lord. It's a surprise." She quickly winked at me and shuffled out the open doorway, shutting the door behind her.
A soft chuckle drew my attention away from the door to Warrick. "I'm glad to see you made a friend, my little dove."
I smiled softly. "I might've complained about having a servant in the beginning but she's definitely more than that now. Thank you for sending her my way."
"Of course, no need to thank me. I actually came to see if you'd like to go out tonight? I'm sure you're starting to feel a little stuffed inside this castle since we haven't done anything but be inside this entire time." He walked over and sat beside me on the bed.
"That sounds wonderful, I would love to. But I do have to let you know, it's not odd for me to be inside a lot. I'm actually pretty used to it since I wasn't allowed outside with the Sister's when I was younger, much. They said it was for my protection. Now I kind of understand why, since the wolves have been attacking or coming around more often since I came of age." I muttered before looking away from him to look at the opposite wall.
"Well in that case, I think it's time to get you outside. What would you like to do? Go into town and walk the streets? Go shopping?" He questioned.
"Taking a walk through the town sounds really great, I've never been to a town before." I bit my lip to conceal my excitement but with how my foot started bouncing, Warrick noticed with ease and chuckled quietly.
'Come then, put your flats on and let's go. We'll have an escort with us when we go for your protection but you won't know they're there."
With that being said, I rushed over to my black flats and hurried to the door, almost slamming it open against the wall. Warrick followed calmly after me as I hurried down the stairs to the front door and eagerly waited for him to catch up before opening it.
"How are we going to get there, Warrick?" I asked him quickly.
"We're flying." Before I could say a word, he grasped my hips and pulled me close to him where our bodies were flush against each other. I gasped in surprise at the sudden movement.
"Oh, that flying." I said breathlessly.
Warrick grinned at me and held me tighter before taking off into the night sky.
