Prepare for Journey

Tea? At the royal castle?

Draven was confused, but it only took him a few moments to get a grasp on the situation.

The Mother... She is the ruler of the humans. And she wishes to create some sort of treaty with me and my people.

That means that I was right, this man is a human.

But how is he so strong if he's not a leader?

And what does she seek to gain from this?

There are too many questions that I need answers to.

"Tell your 'Mother' that I will visit her soon."

That was all Draven said, as he allowed the drop of Malevolent Blood to evaporate into the air.

"Yes, Mr. Draven." The man said, before turning and heading back the way he came.

The vampires training in the field realised that nothing exciting was going to happen, and returned to their duties.

But Lucian knew that this was more serious than they would know.

"That was an invitation from the leader of the humans, right?" Lucian said as he walked to catch up with Draven.

The Lord of Vampires nodded his head.

"Yes, it was. It seems we might need to postpone our battle with the Werewolves. I'm intrigued as to what this "Mother" might want from me."

They continued walking through the training fields, heading back to the palace, but there was something he couldn't get out of his mind.

Could I have her join my harem?

---

Draven had called together the Nocturnal Knight leaders.

Whilst he sat on the throne, On the red carpet was;

Lucian, Vespera, Prudence and Serena, although she had agreed not to lead a battalion.

She was the second ranker, so it was important for her to be there.

Dracula, as always, stood beside the throne.

"We may have to postpone our battle against the Werewolves," Draven announced to the vampires.

They watched in silence, anticipating his next words.

"I have received an invitation from another clan leader... For 'tea'. I do not know their names, but the humans seem to call her The Mother."

Surprised looks were spread across their faces, except for Lucian who was there for the interaction.

Prudence and Serena seemed to have a look of jealousy on their faces.

Draven continued.

"If I push myself, it should not be a long journey to Londis. The quicker this is finished, the faster we can start our attack on the werewolves."

Lucian gave a resolute nod to the lord.

"Sounds like a plan, Master. When will we be heading out?"

Draven looked at the eager boy, before slowly shaking his head.

"No, Lucian. This journey will be travelled alone."

Instantly, the faces shot into further shock. All except for Dracula.

"W-what do you mean, Drav- I mean, Master Draven?" Prudence said with worry, once again forgetting to call him by his title.

Even Serena seemed prepared to step forward and give her complaints.

But Draven gestured with his hands for them to relax.

"Don't worry yourselves, vampires. You have your training to continue, and I will be more than okay by myself. Whilst I am gone, you will answer to Dracula."

They all looked at him, accepting his decision, but still looking uncertain about it.

"Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes, Master Draven." They said in unison.

The Vampires didn't linger after being dismissed, all heading to the exits to continue about with their duties.

However, Vespera Thornsoul hesitated, before turning around and making her way back to the throne.

Draven looked at her in confusion, an eye row raised.

"Hmm?"

"Master Draven, I hope I am not stepping out of line, but I would like to ask you something."

Her voice was calm and posh.

Draven watched her, waiting for her to continue. And after a few moments, she did.

"Well... This expedition of yours. I understand your desire to go alone, but for years I have been meaning to travel to Londis for personal reasons. Is there any chance I could come along?"

Draven was surprised at the request.

Dracula looked at him from beside the chair with a smile on his face.

Does she want me?

He thought for a few moments.

Vespera was the strongest of the Nocturnal Knights, according to Dracula's Word, and the ranking system. She would not need as much training as the others to prepare herself for the battle with the Werewolves.

It would also give him a chance to get to know her, before entrusting her with an entire battalion.

With his decision made, he finally responded.

"Okay, you may tag along. I will give you an hour to prepare, then you will meet me at the northern exit."

"I am ready now, My Lord. Just call me when you are."

With every passing moment, Draven found the vampire more fascinating.

Usually, women take a while to ready themselves for a journey... I guess she is different.

"Well then, we need not wait any longer."

Draven rose from his throne and said his goodbyes to Dracula.

He did not need to give the man any orders during his departure. Dracula Blackvein had led people before, he understood what he needed to do.

Draven planned to only be gone for a day or two, so he was not too bothered about the journey.

Though his mind was plagued by two prevalent thoughts.

Why Vespera Thornsoul wished to travel to Londis, the capital city of the Humans.

And who 'The Mother' was.
