Rope went a long way further, and eventually he managed to catch a glimpse of the Ghost King scramble.
Unfortunately, it was the stump. Or rather, the table.
Rope watched from afar as a Dusknoir devoured the life and soul of a Gengar. Rope could feel the Dusknoir's excited madness...
Rope could feel the Dusknoir's euphoric madness... the outward, wanting to devour the whole world mood swings that were undeniably sick and insane.
That Gengar was not a wild Pokémon...
Rope saw the fallen trainer on the ground. It looked like he'd made a mistake or was trying to power up his Gengar by making it a Ghost King.
It's effective, but it's just as evil as poison eating.
Anyway, Rope's gone over to take a look. Live to save, dead... collect the body...
So Rope transformed into flames, then charged straight in that direction.
After Rope's ability was further enhanced, he was already able to fly with the help of his ability.
It really doesn't seem like Arceus is up to the level of that game company. Can't even enhance the cheat...
Poorly!
And with Rope making a lot of noise over here, Dusknoir over there was naturally sensing it. And this was a human with many Pokémon.
Already intoxicated with the pleasure of sucking souls, he didn't care about how strong this person actually was, and just hissed hoarsely before lunging in Rope's direction.
Rope looked at Dusknoir as he lunged towards him, his face didn't change a bit, he just silently started to gather fireballs in his own hands. Thanks to Charmander's flames, Rope was also starting to feel the way of Mean White Flame.
Then a fist-sized white fireball just flew out. And at the same time, Rope stopped himself from flying. Landing on the ground, he looked at the white fireball flying forward and Dusknoir, who was obviously preparing to resist the white fireball, and gently shook his head.
The next thing that happened was an explosion, and a huge wave of heat that followed.
Rope's clothes were blown around. He pressed down on his bangs and watched the Dusknoir fall from the sky without expression.
He said softly, "I have a count, I won't kill you..."
After saying that, he proceeded in the direction of that human trainer.
The distance wasn't too far. Rope soon arrived.
He looked at the man in silence.
It was a middle-aged man, not too tall, with stubble on his face, looking very lean. The clothes on his body were still neat.
Already dead...
Rope took out an empty canister from his backpack, and then Rotom flew out and took a few pictures of the middle-aged man's body as evidence. Then, Rope ignited a flame in his hand and touched the middle-aged man's forehead.
The middle-aged man lit up from the inside out.
Rope turned around and took a deep breath, his first time doing such a thing. It would be a lie to say it wasn't diabolical.
But it was a custom among trainers now. Generally speaking, whenever the body of a trainer or anyone else was found in the wild. Those who had a Fire Pokémon brought back the ashes and pictures of the other person. If you don't have a Fire Pokémon, you bring the body back if it's convenient, if not, you bury it on the spot and then bring the photo back to the police, who will contact the family.
If there is no family, it is a lonely grave.
There is no pay for this work, but every trainer does it.
No one can guarantee that the next person lying in some unknown place will not be themselves. Most of the trainers who looked so glamorous to outsiders still had to keep their heads in their pants.
That was the last thing the trainers did to help each other.
The fire went out and all that was left on the ground was a pile of ashes. Luckily the ground in the spirit world was fairly clean, Rope found a small shovel and shoveled the middle-aged man into a small jar.
And with that, the simple cremation was complete. Rope's flames were hot enough that there weren't any large bones left behind that Rope didn't have to crush himself...
And Rope looked up again as a dark cloud was rapidly approaching in the sky not far away.
Rope knew it wasn't any dark cloud. It was a ghostly Pokémon that had sensed Dusknoir's weakness and had rushed over to get a piece of the action. The Ghost King fight, it seemed, would continue.
Rope shrugged and put the small canister in his backpack then headed off in the direction he came from.
After some time, Rope once again returned to the front door.
At that moment, an old woman with light blonde hair, wearing a long purple dress and leaning on a cane was standing there, looking at Rope with a smirk.
The person who came was none other than Granny Agatha.
"Granny, you came so fast!" Rope said to Granny Agatha with a strong, breathless smile.
"How about it kiddo, see what a ghost king fight is." The smile at the corner of Granny Agatha's mouth seemed grim, but if one looked closely at her eyes, one could see that they sparkled with concern and a hint of relief for Rope.
"So boring, granny. It's just a party..."
Rope still had a breathless laugh.
Granny Agatha nodded, recognizing Rope's statement that the Ghost King competition was, in essence, just a party. The Pokémon who won in the end, used all the other Pokémon as food, devoured them all, and then sat on one side until they died of old age or a new king was born.
The law of survival in the spirit world was still this primitive, with a strong smell of blood.
"Breathless, cheer up! What happened, tell Granny when we get out." With that, she took Rope's hand and then headed out the door.
Rope pursed her lips and froze as she followed Granny Agatha.
The duo walked through the gate and returned to the Pokémon Tower in the present world. A Gengar drilled out of Granny Agatha's shadow. The Gengar first made a face towards Rope, then flew in front of the gate, and its hands glowed with a black and purple violet light. The two small short hands closed in the air. The black spirit world gate closed along with the hands and eventually disappeared.
Gengar quickly floats back into Granny Agatha's shadow, showing half of his body, but looking worriedly at the breathless Rope.
Rope flashed a smile at Gengar, signaling that he was fine.
Gengar gives him a big blank stare. Then burrowed out of Granny Agatha's shadow and dived into Rope's.
"Granny. I brought back someone."
Rope suddenly spoke.
Granny Agatha's form paused imperceptibly for a moment, then scolded softly, "No talent! Bringing back is bringing back. You'll be traveling for a long time to come, and you'll always run into this sort of thing."
"I understand Granny...I'm just, a little tired." Rope said breathlessly.
Facing another person's death head on and collecting for them. This was all Rope's first experience. The shock it gave him wasn't much different from facing Arceus directly.
He was only 20 years old, and on Earth, he was still just a college student.
"Take a nap if you're tired..."
Granny Agatha's voice seemed extraordinarily gentle, but Rope didn't hear it. It seemed real, but then again, it seemed like an illusion.
He fell asleep.
Behind him, Gengar's eyes had changed back to their original color. He activated Hypnosis.
Then the first thing he did was catch Rope, who was about to fall to the ground, and carried him on his back.
Granny Agatha turned around, stroked Rope's hair, and said with a never-before-seen tender look that would make anyone else fall over when they saw it, "Silly boy, if you're tired, just sleep, you'll be fine after a nap."
After saying that, Granny Agatha turned back and whispered, "Banette."
A Banette laughed and emerged from the air.
"Clean up the spirit world around here, leave no one behind..."
Banette glances at Rope on Gengar's back, "Jiejiejie" laughs, and disappears into the air again.
