CHAPTER 13

"We have arrived at the third route ..." Kilian said as we got of the carriage.

The trip would take about two days and I was honestly glad to be away. Lilly and I took our bags to an exuisite villa set aside for us. I took a quick shower before joining Killian to survey the area.

" Your friend didn't join you?" Kilian asked.

" No . I left her to rest. I believe am safe with you, aren't I?" I said raising a brow at him .

He nodded. We walked into the streets where Kilian pointed out the various guards working in the area undercover.

" You should station a base over there!" I said pointing next to a shop. The place was abandoned. " It is perfect since it is easily accessible and won't interfere with the towns folks..."

Kilian nodded as he guided me into the building.

" You're right and it's quite spacious. It can also serve as a scenter for citizens to petition their needs..."

I nodded as we took a look at the layout. Kilian was quite a strategic man . He saw opportunity in everything. Guess this is why he was a general.

I was dead beat as I got to the villa. Lilly had prepared a salad which she said was good for me and I never argued since she was right and I was too tired.

" Any news from home..." I asked since it had been two days.

Lilly shook her head. " Marriage preparations are being made ..." Lilly said. " You are really okay with his Majesty marrying Chloe..."

I nodded." It's not like we actually have something between us apart from our power..." I said as I got dressed in my night gown.

Lilly sighed. She soon enough left for her room and I dozed off immediately.

I found myself standing in a valley and saw an ongoing battle as I heard Xavier call out my name but then as he came towards me he was stabbed through his back and fell dead on my feet. He tried reaching out but I was too shaken to move.

I woke up drenched in sweat. I was breathing deeply. " Relax it was only a dream ..." I said trying to calm myself.

It was past midnight and I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep anymore. I took the covering of my night gown and made my way to my balcon with a glass of water in my hand.

Though I hated Xavier I didn't want him to die. Or maybe I just wanted to do it myself. Either way the dream felt way too realistic. I began channeling my energy to control my power just as I saw Lilly do.

" My lady!" I spotted Kilian below outside my villa. Why was he out this late. He motioned me to follow him and I smiled and asked him to wait. I quickly put a fitting wear to go out and a wollen cloak.

I stepped out and tipped my way over to the gate being careful not to alert Lilly. The guards escorted me to the gate and upon seeing Kilian left me be with him .

" Why are you here!" I asked .

" I couldn't sleep and I wanted to go out for a stroll when I saw you..." He said as we walked down the heavily guarded path to the Town. Each time we passed the guards lowered their heads in respect and I simply smiled.

" Do you mind if I ask you a question?" I asked Kilian as we got lost in the crowd.

" Not at all..."

" Are you married?"

Kilian let out a throaty chuckle and I looked away in embarrassment. He shook his head.

" I'm not. I haven't found the one yet. And being a general takes up most of my time..." He explained as we entered into an open bar.

I felt sorry for him. He was such a nice guy he deserves to be loved.

" Why do you ask?" He asked as we took a sit at one of the tables.

" Just curious..."

Kilian ordered a glass of whiskey while I stuck to drinking water considering my capacity to hold my drink and what happened last time.

" Can I ask you a question?" He said to me and I smiled as I urged him to. I took a sip of my water as he asked and choked at his question.

" Do you and his Majesty plan on having kids..."

I coughed up the water as Kilian rubbed my back. Of course he didn't know that our marriage was a facade.

" Pardon me for...."

" It's okay. You just caught me off guard..." I said." In the near future yes. But currently it really isn't in our books as we have things to accomplish..."

Kilian nodded as he looked to the dancing crowd. Gosh what an epic lie that was. Kilian and I left and took a long route back to the villa as he opened up of several details about his life.

" Thank you for the night..." I said as we arrivef at my villa.

" Thank you for joining me..." He said. " Good night my lady..."

" Good night Kilian..."
