Flying sparks

"See, the sun is so nice and lovely," Rolan sighs at the end, gently pushing Rose's wheelchair along the white, sandy beach.

Rose squints and slowly lifts her head to glance at him.

She clenches her fists, her heart racing.

Was Rolan pretending nothing had happened? That he didn't see the arrow that was meant to hurt her?

He acted so calm…

Her face tightens in a frown as she turns her head again to look at him.

Rolan chuckles, catching her gaze.

"You've been staring at me. What is it, Rose? Is it that you find me handsome—too handsome and irresistible?"

Rose pauses, her lips trembling.

"You saw the arrow, right? It was meant to destroy me."

"Don't you think so too, Yuna?"

She turns inward, speaking to the wolf inside her.

"That thing was definitely meant for us. Rose, how could anyone want to hurt us? We're pure souls."
