The Entrance Exam

Cades had some trouble while flying because he had too many things with him, he had just lost himself in making more and more magical items, he had the aforementioned flute, a abnormally effective telescope, a pen that never runs out of ink and some other stuff, so much so that he lost the pen and it fell down.

Right above a school.

Cades was sure that there was going to be someone that would be very happy about the, in his opinion, beautiful pen.

However, he continued on flying to get to Unulria, worried that he might be late to the entrance exam.

The entrance exam consisted of five written tests, in math, magic theory, alchemy, esperanto (the ehetrian language) and astronomy.

After that there would be a physical test in basic fitness and for some basic swordsmanship.

Lastly, the artificing students needed to bring one of their own self-made magical items that would be analysed and graded by the teachers.

As Cades flew he looked out over the city and saw countless trees.

The Unulria magic school was situated quite far away in the middle of a forest infested with weak monsters, these weaker monsters were used in swordsmanship or hunter tests.

Beyond the wide dark green forest one could see a brown mansion made of wood and stone, it had multiple other smaller Mansions of the same type connected to it, probably the different classes that were added to the school later on.

The roof was made of red corrugated slates and was beautifully drawn around the whole complex building.

Cades could see a few hundred people on the ground most of which also had wings, with only very view not having any .

These people that did not have wings were mostly immigrants, they were those that ran from their dimension or their planet for safety or money and used a interdimensional train to get here.

They belonged to various different species, but with most of them it was fairly clear that they were not human or ehetrian.

Cades slowly and carefully lowered himself trying not to let any other artifacts fall down as he got within about 10 meters above ground the people noticed and looked at him.

After he landed on the ground the people mostly stopped looking because they were not interested in a random ehetrian, instead they talked with each other.

Cades could only hear snips of what they were talking about but from what he could tell they were mostly talking about the test and what classes they were going to try and choose.

Some girls were still looking at him.

Cades was a rather attractive ehetrian with wide black wings and long feathers having yellowish black eyes and pale skin.

He was pretty tall with 1.81 Meters and, just like most people that were here, pretty muscular.

He had dark brown hair just like his mother and wore normal pants of a dark brown colour with a dark green shirt both looking rather rough compared to the colours of the other people here, as they were rather wealthy for the most part and had gotten education since an early age to be able to be here.

He had an aura reminiscent of an artificer which some seemed to like and some did not like at all.

Undisturbed by the little attention he got he went to the artificer classes and signed himself up, it was not a long process, most of those that were here wanted to become powerful and call hurricanes with a word or split mountains with a single strike.

Very view wanted to create things.

"Hey, what's your name ?" Cades was very surprised as a small girl with bright yellow hair, which he did not know greeted him.

"Hello, my name is Cades, what's your name ?" he responded, as although he did not know who she was he still had manners.

"My name is Nelia." the tiny girl said smiling.

Cades just now realized that she was not an ehetrian, she was much smaller with 1.23 Meters, had weirdly small ears and a long monkey-tail in her case bright yellow.

It seemed like she was a "arbahomo", a small species that mostly lived in rainforests and was very good at climbing.

They were known for making intricate designs and overall being good at artificing, however he had heard that they were hyperactive and had problems concentrating.

Cades did not know about the other parts but the last one seemed to definitely be true.

"It seems like we are going to be in the same class, wanna sit next to each other ?"

"sure..." Cades was overwhelmed at the sudden verbal attack by the little girl called Nelia.

"Nice" Nelia nodded towards his handbag with the silver telescope being clearly visible, "what'cha got there ?"

"These are just some artifacts I've already been working on, the telescope is just a bit better than a normal one."

"NELIA ! Stop talking to random people!", a young man about 15 years old, seemingly ehetrian with white wings, came towards the two of them and continued talking, "What are you doing now ?"

"Ah, I was just talking to this guy, he is an aspiring artificer, just like me ! "

"Still, don't just run away, it's my task to look after you as long as you are here !"

"Okayyyy Mangel" Nelia said, clearly acting as if she was bored out of her mind.

The young man, Mangel, turned to Cades and began talking :

"Sorry for her, she is a bit hyperactive and likes to run around everywhere."

In opposition to Nelia the boy seemed to be very calm and reserved, looking at Cades with calculating eyes.

"It's okay....Mangel? She was very nice. Are you also part of the artificing class ?"

Mangel laughingly replied : " No, I am part of the battle mage class, specialising in transfiguration, full name, Mangel Hader."

"Cades Kirgun, artificing class, as you already know."

The two shook their hands while Nelia was already talking to other people who seemed to be quite weirded out by her hyperactivity.
