As the door swung open, the group was momentarily blinded by the golden light spilling out. They stepped into a vast chamber that seemed to defy logic. The ground was covered in soft, luminous grass, and the ceiling was an endless sky filled with twinkling stars. Floating islands dotted the horizon, connected by thin beams of light that pulsed rhythmically.
Xu Tian blinked in awe. "Okay, I'll admit it. This place is...kind of amazing. Almost makes up for all the times we almost died."
Wei Ling crouched, running his fingers through the glowing grass. "It feels real, but...it's not natural. There's a strange energy here."
Yue Lin frowned. "It's a pocket dimension. A powerful one. Whoever created this had knowledge far beyond ours."
Shen Feng's gaze was drawn to the largest floating island at the center of the chamber. A towering obelisk stood there, its surface etched with ancient runes. The chalice floated ahead of them, its light forming a bridge to the island.
"That must be our destination," Shen Feng said.
Xu Tian squinted at the obelisk. "Does anyone else think it looks suspiciously ominous? Or is that just me?"
As they began to cross the light bridge, a gentle voice echoed around them.
"Welcome, seekers of truth. You have come far, but your journey is far from over."
The air shimmered, and a figure materialized before them—a serene woman in flowing robes, her features ethereal and otherworldly. Her eyes sparkled like the stars above.
"Who are you?" Shen Feng asked, his hand instinctively reaching for his sword.
"I am a fragment of the Will of this place," the woman replied. "I exist to guide those who have proven their worth."
Xu Tian raised an eyebrow. "Guide us, huh? Does that mean no more monsters trying to kill us?"
The woman smiled faintly. "Your challenges will not end, but they will take a different form. For now, I offer you a choice."
The woman gestured, and three objects appeared in the air before them: a glowing crystal, a sealed scroll, and a small, unassuming key.
"Each of these represents a path forward," she said. "The crystal offers power, the scroll offers knowledge, and the key...offers an opportunity. Choose wisely, for your decision will shape the trials ahead."
Xu Tian scratched his head. "Why do ancient places always have so many choices? Can't we just get all three and call it a day?"
Wei Ling laughed. "Where's the fun in that?"
Shen Feng studied the objects carefully, his brow furrowed. "This feels...different. The choice isn't just about us—it's about what we value most."
Yue Lin examined the scroll. "Knowledge could give us the edge we need. It might reveal the secrets of this place."
Wei Ling tapped the crystal. "Power is always useful. We're going to need strength to get through whatever's waiting for us."
Xu Tian picked up the key and waved it around. "Opportunity? That's so vague! But also kind of intriguing. Maybe it opens a treasure chest or something."
Shen Feng considered their arguments, then turned to the woman. "What happens if we choose wrong?"
The woman's smile faded slightly. "There are no wrong choices, only different paths. But each choice comes with its own risks and rewards."
After a moment of silence, Shen Feng pointed to the key. "Let's take the opportunity. It may seem vague, but sometimes the greatest rewards come from the unknown."
The woman nodded, and the key floated into Shen Feng's hand. The other objects vanished, and the light bridge pulsed brighter, signaling them to continue.
Xu Tian grinned. "See? The weird option always pays off!"
Yue Lin sighed. "Let's hope you're right."
As they crossed to the central island, the key began to glow faintly, its light resonating with the obelisk.
When they reached the obelisk, Shen Feng held the key aloft. It floated from his hand, inserting itself into a hidden slot on the obelisk's surface. The runes lit up, and the ground beneath them trembled.
A low hum filled the air as the obelisk opened, revealing a swirling portal within. The serene woman appeared again, her expression solemn.
"Beyond this portal lies the next phase of your journey," she said. "But be warned: the path ahead will test you in ways you cannot imagine."
Xu Tian crossed his arms. "Yeah, yeah. We get it. More tests, more danger. Can we at least get a snack first?"
The woman chuckled softly. "You may rest here, but only briefly. The portal will not remain open for long."
The group sat in the glowing grass, taking a moment to catch their breath.
Wei Ling stretched. "This place is weird, but it's not so bad. Almost peaceful."
Yue Lin nodded. "Don't get too comfortable. The next phase won't be so forgiving."
Shen Feng stared at the portal, his mind racing. "We've made it this far. Whatever's ahead, we'll face it together."
Xu Tian leaned back, grinning. "And if we survive, I'm writing a book about this. I'll call it The Adventures of Xu Tian: A Hero's Journey."
Wei Ling laughed. "Hero? You're more like the comedic sidekick."
"Comedic sidekick?" Xu Tian sputtered. "I've been invaluable to this team!"
As they bickered, the portal shimmered, its light intensifying. The group stood, their moment of respite over.
With a mix of determination and trepidation, they stepped through, leaving the tranquil field behind.
