The Deal

Dominic's POV

Lucas was already waiting for us at the helipad of San Francisco Memorial Hospital. The moment the helicopter touched down, a team of doctors rushed forward, swiftly transferring Daniella onto a stretcher. They wheeled her toward the elevator, and Lucas and I followed closely, our hurried steps echoing in the cold, sterile hallways.

At the operating room doors, a nurse stepped forward, holding up her hand to stop us. "This is as far as you can go. Family members must wait outside. The doctors will do everything they can."

The words were a hammer to my chest. My legs gave out, and I sank onto one of the cold chairs outside the operating room. My mate, my Daniella was in there, her life hanging by a thread, and there was nothing I could do.
