"It's time for you to leave now that you've seen it," I said coldly.

"Can't we make amends? My life is miserable without you."

"Mr. Stewart, watch your language. I'm no longer your spouse."

"Clare, this past year has been torture. I've regretted my actions every single day. Whenever someone came to the door, I hoped it was you. You're the most important woman in my life. Please, give our relationship another try. Let's get married again. I promise I'll never hurt you again," Aiden pleaded desperately.

"What's gone can't be recovered, and what returns is never the same. There's no 'us' anymore. Mr. Stewart, please go and let's not cross paths again. Don't come here anymore. My daughter is resting in peace, and your presence brings back painful memories. You left her at a roadside and weren't there when she needed you most."

With those words, I walked away.

I heard him sobbing uncontrollably behind me.

I didn't turn back—he didn't deserve any sympathy.
