Glenn had become a regular at the coffee shop since I last saw him. He would arrive alone each day, order coffee, and spend hours lost in thought. Adalynn was nowhere to be seen, and Glenn's solitary presence was telling.
Shane, noticing Glenn's frequent visits, suggested we ask him to leave. His worry was clear, but I just sighed and shook my head. With his flower shop across the street, it wasn't realistic for Shane to manage the coffee shop all day.
I handled the shop alone during peak hours. Every day, a new bouquet appeared—roses, lilies, or whatever I liked at the time. It was evident Glenn was paying attention and trying to make amends, even if his efforts were complicated.
As time passed, Glenn seemed more dejected, especially seeing Shane and me openly affectionate. His visits grew shorter, and his mood became increasingly melancholic.
