I took the bag of coins from Zalthorion, the weight of it feeling strange in my hand. The coins inside shimmered with a variety of colors copper, silver, gold, and those strange teal and clear ones. However, it was the black coin that caught my attention the most. It seemed to hum with a subtle energy, the darkness within it both alluring and unnerving.
I raised an eyebrow, glancing at Zalthorion. "What is this?" I asked, holding up the black coin.
Zalthorion's smile remained as calm as ever. "That is a Voidstone Coin. They aren't for everyday transactions usually reserved for special purposes. Commissions for weapon crafting, powerful artifacts, or exchanges that require more... unique materials. You won't find them useful for buying food or clothing. But they hold immense value in the right hands."
I nodded, trying to wrap my head around the idea of such an item, then glanced back down at the bag. It was heavy enough to suggest more than just a few coins inside, and it would last me about a week, according to Zalthorion.
"Your home," Zalthorion continued, "is located in the Vesperon District, at Address 34-R, Horizon Rise. It's a bit secluded but comfortable, and you'll find it well-suited for someone of your... status."
I processed the address and the idea of a new place to stay. I wasn't quite sure what to expect from the city, but it seemed like a place where anything could happen.
"In two to three days," Zalthorion added, "I'll contact you about your mission. Until then, consider this time to settle in and explore the city. Your role here is still being defined, but there is always something to learn in Evolto."
With that, he gave me a small, knowing nod, then turned to leave, his form fading into the shadows as if he was already lost in thought, leaving me standing alone with the bag of strange coins.
After leaving the building, I activated the DRS to guide me to my new home.
In Zalthorion's point of view
I was absorbed in reviewing documents when the office door suddenly burst open. A small, childlike voice cried, "PAPA!" I turned to see a little figure sprinting toward me and leaping into my arms.
"Haha, Marisov, what are you doing here? Weren't you supposed to be with Miss Azura learning?" I asked.
Marisov grinned. "She gave me a break, so I came to meet you!"
"Alright then," I replied,
"but who was that person who just left?" He asked
"That's the new resident of the city," I explained.
After a few minutes of conversation, there was a knock at the door. "Come in," I called out. The door opened to reveal a strikingly beautiful woman with blue hair and eyes as deep and clear as sapphires.
"Marisov, it's time to continue your lesson," she said coolly.
Marisov responded with a simple, "Okay," and left the room with her.
I managed a quiet thank-you as she turned to leave. Despite her otherwise emotionless expression, I caught a faint blush on her cheeks a subtle hint of the truth behind her façade. I knew well what she truly was: a terrifying yandere. I remembered all too clearly how I discovered her secret. Once, when I had gone into her room to discuss Marisov's lessons, I found her kneeling before a table adorned with a picture of me, along with personal mementos my toothbrush, my hair, everything. In that moment, she was almost in a state of prayer. Terrified by what I saw, I ran out of the room as fast as I could.

I began walking slowly, and as I strolled down the bustling streets, the lively noise gradually faded into a calm quiet. Eventually, I reached my new home a modest two-story house that could comfortably fit a small family, with a daycare conveniently situated beside it.
Just as I was unlocking my door, the ground began to rumble beneath my feet. I turned around to see an enormous Ogryn much larger than the usual ones carrying a group of children on his broad back as he dropped them off at the daycare.
"Bye, Mr. Yariam!" one of the kids called out cheerfully.
With a low, rumbling voice, Yariam replied"Yar, bye-bye, lil' 'uns. Yariam keep all safe."
I soon turned back and made my way to my new home. It was a quaint little place, modest yet comfortable. The exterior was a fusion of smooth, polished metal and warm wooden beams, a common architectural style in the city blending advanced technology with natural elements.
Stepping inside, I took in my surroundings. The interior was surprisingly cozy. A soft glow emanated from luminescent panels embedded in the walls, casting a gentle, ambient light. The furniture was sleek yet inviting, with cushioned seating and a sturdy wooden table at the center of the main room. The air carried a faint scent of something earthy and metallic, a reminder of the city's unique fusion of nature and innovation.
To my left, a compact but well-equipped kitchen stood ready for use, complete with a sleek cooking station that functioned with a simple thought command. Further in, a spiral staircase led up to a small loft, where my bed and personal space awaited. Large windows allowed for a breathtaking view of the cityscape, the distant glow of the Cerian Sun illuminating the horizon.
I let out a breath, allowing myself a moment of peace. This place this city was unlike anything I had ever known. It was a strange mix of the familiar and the unknown, but for the first time in a long while, I felt something close to belonging.
I sat down on the couch, the material molding slightly to accommodate me, and allowed myself a small smile.
"This... isn't so bad," I murmured to myself
I decided to get a few things, so I left the park and started walking toward the market street of Evolto. As I made my way through the city, I noticed a nearby park. A large field was filled with kids playing tag, but something about it caught my attention. As the children ran around, they would occasionally glance at small watches on their wrists. Each time they did, a rift would open in the air, and they'd jump through, suddenly appearing in a different location on the field. It was unlike anything I'd seen before.
"It's called Void Chase," a voice said from behind me. Turning around, I was surprised to see a small robot on wheels, about half my height. Its copper exterior made it stand out, especially since most robots in Evolto City were made from sleek, metallic materials. The robot looked almost out of place, but its vintage-like appearance was charming in a way.
"I'm sorry, my name is Pascal," the robot said, its voice friendly and polite. "I couldn't help but notice you watching the kids."
"Oh, I was just curious," I said, still watching the children as they darted through the rifts, their laughter filling the air.
Pascal whirred slightly, as if processing my response. "No worries, many newcomers have the same reaction. It's an interesting sight."
I smiled, feeling a bit more at ease with Pascal's friendly demeanor. "So, this game Void Chase—is it something the kids play often?" I asked, still captivated by the chaotic, yet fun, scene unfolding before me.
Pascal's wheels spun gently, and it seemed to perk up as it spoke. "Yes, it's incredibly popular in Evolto City. The kids wear special watches that open rifts in space-time, allowing them to teleport to different spots on the field. It's a mix of tag and strategic movement, with the rifts making it all the more exciting."
I raised an eyebrow, impressed by the concept. "Sounds like a lot of fun... and a bit chaotic."
Pascal spun its wheels in a tiny circle, almost as if it were chuckling. "Exactly! But it's safe—those watches are designed to ensure the kids don't teleport too far or into dangerous places. They love the thrill of jumping through the rifts to outsmart each other. Plus, it's a great way for them to practice spatial awareness and reflexes."
I laughed. "Seems like a great way to keep them entertained while teaching them something useful."
"Indeed," Pascal agreed. "And for the adults, it's just as entertaining to watch the chaos unfold. But if you're interested, I can show you around the market street and recommend some great spots. There's always something new and exciting to discover in Evolto."
I nodded, feeling like I was getting a glimpse into the quirky and unique side of Evolto. "Sure, I'd like that."
Pascal led the way, effortlessly guiding me through the bustling market street. We passed a variety of shops, with vendors selling everything from exotic fruits to intricate, hand-crafted gadgets. Pascal enthusiastically pointed out various spots along the way, recommending shows, restaurants, and even hidden gems in the area. As we walked, I began to feel a deeper connection to the city, seeing it from a local's perspective.
After hours of exploring with Pascal, I managed to get the items I needed. My arms were full, and Pascal had helped me find everything on my list. By the time we arrived back at the park, I was exhausted but satisfied.
"You've got a good eye for finding the best deals," I said, smiling at Pascal, who whirred in response.
Pascal rolled beside me as we entered my home. "Evolto City can be overwhelming at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's a great place to live. I'm glad I could help you out today."
We sat and talked for a while about the city, its quirks, and the endless possibilities for new experiences. Pascal's cheerful presence made it feel like I was getting to know Evolto on a deeper level far beyond what the brochures or official documents could ever convey.
While we were talking, a large armored figure walked by, resembling a knight but on a much larger scale. The figure's armor was sleek but imposing, and its presence commanded respect. I couldn't help but stare, intrigued by the sight.
Pascal noticed my confusion and chimed in. "Oh, those are Exo-Knights. They're the ones responsible for maintaining peace and order in Evolto City. Think of them as a mix of military enforcers and peacekeepers. They're highly trained and equipped with advanced armor and weaponry, ready to defend the city from any threat."
I nodded, impressed. "Sounds like Evolto City really takes security seriously."
Pascal nodded. "Absolutely. It's a big part of why this city is so stable there's always someone watching out for its citizens."
After a while, our conversation came to a close, and I thanked Pascal for the tour. With my bags full and a newfound understanding of the city, I walked home, feeling both worn out and excited by the day's adventures.
When I reached home i just left the items downstairs and fell onto my bed.
