037 Yugito’s Fear

Previously, Yugito thought that the Konoha forces were very fragile, completely unable to withstand the might of Kumogakure.

But now, the situation was entirely different.

Konoha Village had someone like Night Star Uchiha, a monster capable of directly confronting a fully transformed tailed beast!

Moreover, one of the Legendary Sannin, Tsunade-hime, had arrived on the Kirigakure front lines.

Yugito was unaware of Tsunade's hemophobia.

In her mind, Tsunade was the granddaughter of the First Hokage, one of the Legendary Sannin, a powerhouse on par with the Kage of various villages.

Night Star Uchiha, Tsunade, Orochimaru.

Such top-tier powerhouses were matched in Kumogakure only by the Fourth Raikage and the perfect jinchūriki, Killer Bee.

Let's not forget Konoha's Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi. Though advanced in age, as the saying goes:

"Even a centipede dies without stiffening completely."

In his prime, Hiruzen Sarutobi was at the pinnacle of the ninja world. Even now, despite his age, he remained a figure to be cautiously guarded against.

Besides these figures, Konoha's new generation included rising talents like Kakashi Hatake, the Copy Ninja and son of White Fang.

Currently, the Three-Tails jinchūriki of Kirigakure, Fourth Mizukage Yagura, had already been defeated.

Could Night Star Uchiha is next target be the Kumogakure battlefield?

Kumogakure's ninjas were known for their love of battle, and Yugito, as one of the outstanding talents of the younger generation, was no exception.

From her own perspective, she was eager to face Night Star Uchiha and determine who was stronger.

But Yugito's identity extended beyond that of an ordinary ninja. She was the Two-Tails jinchūriki and the commander of an elite Kumogakure force numbering dozens.

If she acted recklessly out of competitiveness, not only might Konoha seize the Two-Tails, but a single misstep could cost them the entire war.

At this thought, Yugito sighed lightly, gazing at her subordinates, who were preparing their ninja tools and getting ready to proceed. She stood up and spoke slowly.

"The original target is canceled. We're returning to Kumogakure."

Although the Kumogakure ninjas were puzzled by this, none voiced objections. They all responded in unison:

"Understood."

This demonstrated Yugito's high level of prestige in Kumogakure, despite her youth.

Meanwhile…

Other kunoichi might read the diary out of curiosity or for amusement.

Mei Terumi, however, was different.

As a Kirigakure ninja, every sentence in the diary caught her full attention. She meticulously analyzed it, hoping to glean some valuable information.

However, for the past several minutes, her mind had been completely blank.

Mizukage Yagura had become the Three-Tails jinchūriki?

And he was being controlled by a man named Obito through Mangekyou genjutsu?

Mei Terumi finally understood why Kirigakure had made so many absurd decisions over the years.

Honestly, back when the plan was to implant the Three-Tails into the young girl Rin Nohara, send her back to her village, and unleash the Three-Tails to destroy Konoha, Mei Terumi already found it ludicrous.

Not to mention the plan ultimately failed.

Even if it had succeeded, what would have been the outcome?

Could a mere Three-Tails really flatten Konoha, with all its deep foundations?

Even if Konoha suffered significant damage, wouldn't it simply mean handing over the Three-Tails, a strategic-level weapon, directly into their hands?

And after the Nine-Tails incident…

Kirigakure, having lost the Three-Tails, was already severely weakened. Common sense would dictate a period of recuperation and recovery.

Yet, not long after, Mizukage Yagura declared war on Konoha and ordered all the village's strong ninjas to the front lines, as if launching a suicidal attack without any fallback plan.

At last, it all made sense.

Yagura wasn't incompetent—he was being manipulated.

"He's been defeated… Well, it doesn't matter anymore."

Mei Terumi had initially thought that if Yagura, as Mizukage and Three-Tails jinchūriki, was taken back to Konoha and stripped of the tailed beast, it would be a devastating loss for Kirigakure.

But on second thought…

A Mizukage who had been manipulated like a puppet might as well be dead.

The Land of Water had a unique geographic advantage, being an isolated island nation overseas.

Even if its strength was greatly diminished, any attempt to cross the sea and face Kirigakure ninjas, experts in water-style techniques, on their home turf would result in significant losses.

For this reason, Mei Terumi had proposed the plan to collaborate with Night Star.

At that moment, a new sentence appeared in the diary.

[Obito should make his move soon.]

At the same time, as Night Star finished recording this sentence, a mysterious figure wearing a tiger-patterned mask and long black hair appeared out of thin air atop the Rashomon.

The three-tomoe Sharingan in his right eye emitted a sinister crimson glow as he locked eyes with Night Star.

"That is… a three-tomoe Sharingan?"

Seeing the sudden appearance of this mysterious figure, Tsunade and Orochimaru both heightened their vigilance.

Possessing a three-tomoe Sharingan, he was undoubtedly a member of the Uchiha clan.

However…

When the mysterious man exchanged glances with Night Star, the killing intent emanating from him was so intense it seemed almost tangible!
