The morning sun streamed through the paper windows, casting a twinkling light over a modest, simple room.
In this room sat a tall young man, about two meters in height. He was cross-legged on a feathered mattress, his eyes closed and his expression serene.
Then, he opened his eyes, revealing a crimson pupil. A frown marred his face.
"It's more difficult than I expected," he muttered.
Leon glanced in front of him at a simple book with the grand title Dragon's Swirl written on its cover.
He picked up the book and read it, checking its contents once more before resuming his meditation.
How do the techniques of the Warrior work? Some are imitations of powerful beasts, while others draw inspiration from nature. But they all have one thing in common—they are, at their core, breathing techniques.
By forming synchronized and controlled breaths and merging them with the Natural Energy from their Warrior Heart, Warriors could perform terrifying feats that no ordinary human could possibly imagine.
It wasn't an exaggeration to say that a thousand-strong Warrior could completely decimate an army as easily as drinking water.
Of course, Leon wasn't a Warrior and didn't possess Natural Energy, but even by merely controlling his breath, he could achieve similar effects.
Leon took a deep breath, his chest puffing up, before exhaling quickly. Then, he took five short breaths in rapid succession, followed by another long breath. He repeated the process ten times, over and over again.
Veins began to surface across his body as he rose from the ground, his muscles coiling like a dragon ready to strike.
Finally, he drew the deepest breath he could, his stomach expanding as if about to burst.
Leon grabbed the wooden spear resting nearby and stood upright. With all his strength, he thrust forward, releasing his held breath.
"Spear Art: Dragon's Swirl."
From the spear's tip, a swirling force erupted, spinning like a drill as it shot forward. It pierced through the wooden wall in front of him, revealing the outside.
Crack!
A small splinter from the spear's tip fell to the ground. Moments later, cracks spread across the wooden shaft like a spiderweb, growing wider until the entire spear crumbled into fragments.
Leon collapsed to the ground weakly, his chest rising and falling rapidly.
"That was exhausting," he muttered.
He lay sprawled on the ground, rolling around lazily.
"I finally did it?"
Although this was just the beginning of learning the technique, and he still had a long way to go before mastering it, it was undeniably a step forward.
At that moment, a black flicker of light appeared before him, forming a transparent screen with text written across it.
[Congratulations, Sage Candidate! You have unlocked another skill: Dragon's Swirl.]
"Huh? Techniques are considered skills?" Leon was stunned. This wasn't the first time he had gained a skill—he already had two. Now, he had three in total.
As quickly as it had appeared, the black flicker of light vanished right before his eyes.
"Hmm."
Leon, feeling a bit considerate, went outside to fetch another wooden spear. With the new spear in hand, he decided to try performing the technique again.
This time, he didn't even need to meditate. His breathing was steady and controlled, as if his body had already developed muscle memory for it.
Huff!
With a final deep breath, his muscles coiled once more. This time, Leon tapped into the yellow chakra from his Divine Core Rune.
Boom!
The wooden spear shattered instantly, and a massive hole appeared in the wall. The swirling force surged forward, traveling even farther, striking and toppling a tree in the distance before gradually dissipating.
Leon stared at the scene in stunned silence.
"I can really use this yellow chakra like Natural Energy?" he muttered, disbelief and amazement etched on his face.
He glanced at the wall and rubbed his head wearily. "I guess I need to work hard again."
Leon stepped through the man-sized hole in the wall to gather wood and patch things up. Thankfully, it was a wooden house, so fixing it wouldn't be too difficult.
After cutting some wood, he carefully remodeled it to match the size and shape of the damaged wall. He then sprinkled a fine layer of white powder over the surface.
"This should do it, right?" He tilted his head slightly, taking out two rock-like objects—one white and the other black. Casually rubbing them together, he produced a small spark that fell toward the wood.
Normally, a spark like this could cause a massive forest fire, instantly igniting the material. But defying all logic, the spark failed to light the wood. Instead, it gradually fizzled out, releasing a puff of black smoke as it disappeared.
Leon decided to take down the entire wall, working diligently to adjust and rebuild it until the wooden wall looked as good as new.
"Leon, what was that noise just now?"
Zara's voice startled him. She stepped out of the house, her expression stunned.
"Did you do it?" she asked.
"Eh? What, Mother?" Leon replied, slightly confused.
"You used the Swirling Dragon spear technique?"
"Of course," Leon said with a beaming smile, his chest puffed with pride.
Zara's mouth opened slightly in disbelief, her face momentarily frozen. Then, a warm smile gradually spread across her lips.
"My son is even more of a genius than I thought," she said, rushing toward him and pulling him into a loving embrace, her eyes filled with maternal pride.
"Hehe."
Leon laughed heartily. After all this time living with his family, he had naturally adjusted to his new life and found himself growing happier each day.
He wished this moment could last forever.
"After Alex comes back, he can finally teach you the breathing method of *Limitless Tyranny*, and you'll be able to incorporate various techniques into it," Zara said before pausing. "But remember, don't overuse it, or you'll exhaust even your body's potential."
"Okay, Mother."
"Good." Seeing her sensible son, she leaned down and gave him a light peck on his forehead before walking away.
"I'm making your favorite little strange dish you came up with today," she added with a playful smile.
"Woah, are we really eating pizza today?" Leon's eyes lit up, a fiery excitement flickering in them.
"Of course."
"Thank you!"
The two walked back into the house and enjoyed their meal. Later that night, Alex returned, a winged tiger strapped to his back, and the family celebrated with a feast.
After the banquet, Alex finally sat down with Leon to teach him the breathing method of Limitless Tyranny. Surprisingly, the technique was simple—it only required breathing long, controlled breaths for a specific amount of time.
There was a saying: an idiot admires complexity, while a genius sees the beauty in simplicity within complexity.
