Chapter 11
Seraphina
The sunlight pierced through my eyelids, forcing me to open my eyes lazily. My head throbbed slightly, and my body felt weak. That person had caught me off guard, they knew my sister was my only weakness and also the dearest person to me, so they used that against me.The thought left a bitter taste in my mouth.
I sat up slowly, and just then, the door swung open. Irene walked in, followed by a group of maids carrying trays filled with dresses, jewelry, shoes, and other wedding accessories.
My heart skipped a beat. A wedding... was the wedding today? I almost died just yesterday, and now they were holding a wedding? My wound hadn't even healed, and—
Wait. That's when I realized something strange. I wasn't feeling any pain. My hand shot to my stomach as I checked myself. No wound. No pain. Nothing at all.
I frowned. I don't remember healing myself, besides, even I couldn't heal an injury that severe so perfectly, so who did this?.
"Good morning, Your Highness. We've come to prepare you for today's ceremony," Irene said with a bow, and the other maids followed suit.
So, it was really happening. I was getting married today.
"Leave the things here and go. I'll call you after I take my bath," I instructed, waving them off.
Irene shook her head politely but firmly. "No, Your Highness. Today is a special day. We must prepare you with utmost care to ensure every detail reflects the significance of this occasion."
I rolled my eyes. I didn't even bother arguing with her anymore, she was one damn persistent human.
"Whatever," I muttered with a shrug.
I regretted my decision almost immediately once they started bathing me.They weren't washing my skin—they were practically scrubbing it off! My skin turned red from the rough treatment, and I winced at the discomfort.
"That's enough. I can handle the rest myself," I said, reaching for the sponge. But they ignored me, continuing their relentless scrubbing.
I took a deep breath to stay calm. "Hand it over. I'll finish up alone," I said again, my voice dangerously low. Still, they didn't listen.
"Get out!" I snapped, my patience finally breaking. "I said I'll finish myself. Why is that so hard to understand?"
They all flinched at my outburst, their faces pale with shock. They should have just listened the first time..
"Do I have some disease that you have to scrub so hard? Look at my skin—it's red!" I complained, holding out my arm for emphasis.
The redness wasn't that bad, but my skin was sensitive, and I had a low tolerance for pain. Sure, I was tough and strong, but anything uncomfortable? I couldn't handle it.
The maids finally listened and hurried out of the bathroom, leaving me alone to catch my breath. Finally, some peace.
Moments later, I stepped out of the bathroom, clean and fresh, the scent of roses filled my nostrils, being that it was used in the water I bathed with.
They immediately started the preparation, and they all seemed a lot more careful not to get me pissed off this time. Perfect!
Once they were done with the clothes and makeup, I walked up to the mirror to look at myself, i could barely recognize the goddess that stood before me, i knew i was beautiful, but this?.....this was breathtaking.
My gown was a beautiful icy blue, shimmering softly in the light coming through the windows. The floral embroidery with silver threads seemed to move as I shifted. The open back design was bold, and the layers of sheer fabric gave the dress a light, airy feel.
The silver jewelry, with small gems that sparkled in the light, completed the look perfectly. My hair was styled in a soft updo, and the loose strands around my face highlighted the blush on my cheeks. I couldn't help but wonder—did Rhydian have a hand in choosing this gown? It seemed to perfectly match my silver-white hair and the whole atmosphere around me. Whatever the reason, this dress made me feel like something more than just beautiful—it felt magical.
"Your highness, We will take our leave" their voices interrupted my thoughts, I looked away from the mirror and turned to irene. "Where's the king?" I asked, I had some questions to ask him.
"His majesty didn't sleep in the palace last night, and he hasn't returned this morning" Irene replied calmly, my brows furrowed, so he slept out on a day to his wedding.
"Alright, you can leave" i said, waving them to leave. They all headed out of the room and closed the door behind them. I turned and sat on the bed, my stomach growled loudly, was I supposed to eat before or after the wedding, I had no idea.
The dress was heavy and uncomfortable, and I just wanted to get this wedding over with. After sitting quietly in the room for what felt like ages, waiting for whatever event was next, the hunger in my stomach became impossible to ignore.
I stood up and hurried to the door, but once I opened it to step out, I bumped into someone, broad muscular chest, and hypnotizing musk scent. Rhydian!!
My heart raced as I raised my head to look up at him, and saw it, his red blazing eyes, his elongated fangs, what was going on. He looked different, his gaze was cold, he looked like a hungry beast.
Without giving me a chance to say anything, he grabbed my shoulders and pinned me abruptly against the wall, I yelped softly from the impact, and then, he leaned down till his warm breath caressed my neck, and after a deep hiss, i felt his fangs pierced my exposed neck, sipping into my flesh, I gasped softly, surprise by his sudden outburst.
"Rhydian what...." I tried to push him away but his hold on me was too strong, he sucked on my blood like his life depended on it, his body was hot, like he had a fever. Was this....that's right, I hadn't undone my itching spell. Oh my goodness, what have I done!
