Chapter 25
Seraphina
"Seraphina, wake up… or I'll—"
"Or you'll what?" I snapped, my eyes flying open. My chest heaved as the aftermath of my unleashed power pulsed through me. Rhydian stood over me, his eyes glowing with challenge, unbothered by the fact that he had just forced me to tap into something I swore I never would.
My flames—wild, destructive, and deadly—weren't some party trick. The last time I'd used them, someone I loved had paid the price. Since then, I vowed never to lose control again. But Rhydian… he had pushed me to the edge, and I hated him for it.
I tried to sit up, my limbs weak and trembling. His hand slid behind my back, steadying me with a surprising gentleness.
"You okay?" His voice was softer than I expected, laced with genuine concern.
I blinked at him, thrown off. Was that… warmth in his tone? No, it had to be a trick. Rhydian never did anything without a reason.
