21. No time like the present

Evelyn's scowl couldn't get any deeper than it was at the moment. Another one of his annoying friends. Evelyn thought as she slowly turned to look at the man who was casually leaning against the wall.

"What? Did I say something wrong?" he asked.

Evelyn closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She couldn't allow herself to lose her cool now. There was too much at stake to let this man rile her up. "Ezekiel Asher, right?" Evelyn asked as if she wasn't sure.

Ezekiel raised a brow but then nodded ever so obediently.

"I thought as much," was all Evelyn said before she turned her back to Ezekiel as if he held no importance.
